    Marketing Manager (1014-097)

    Job description

    Summary: Sets strategy and develops marketing programs driving market share and category growth for all Rust-Oleum platforms and brands (Rust-Oleum, Spraymate, Zinsser, Varathane, etc.). Responsible for driving new product success in our categories, directing brand communications projects, monitoring financials, and managing brand margins.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Strategic Planning: Conduct market audits and create a SWOT analysis of the product categories. Set growth strategies based on our strengths and opportunities to grow the category. Develop a 5-Year strategic marketing plan for business expansion, and update it annually.
    • Research: Write research briefs, contract and work with research companies in developing and implementing marketing research. Analyze research findings and set strategy based on consumer and trade insights.
    • New Products and Packaging: Drive profitable and innovative product and packaging initiatives for our product categories. Regularly liaise with U.S. corporate team for 2-way sharing of product and packaging concepts and successes.
    • Communications: Source and build a relationship with advertising, public relations and web content agencies that have established experience and relationships in our categories. Write creative briefs and work with marketing agencies in developing and implementing product launches.
    • Financials: Manage and monitor the financial aspects of all Rust-Oleum brands. Develop ways to increase margins through both top-line and cost reducing initiatives.
    • Sales Support: Support Sales in developing and strengthening customer partnerships. Gather retailer and distributor objectives and knowledge of the marketplace by conducting store audits, competitive testing and research on customer shopping behaviors.

    Desired Skills and Experience

    • BA/BS required. MBA in Marketing or equivalent experience a plus.
    • 7-10 years minimum of Marketing Management experience.
    • Experience in strategic planning, developing and executing marketing research and communications.
    • Experience in presenting retailer category solutions to customers.
    • Excellent communication, relationship-building and leadership skills.
    • Strong strategic ability and results-orientation.
    • Self-starter with hands-on work style.
    • Excellent analytical & problem solving skills.
    • Strong presentation and persuasive skills.
    • Flexible-adapts easily to varying situations.
