Your Job

As our in-house Legal Counsel you will provide business critical support to one of our Business Units in Africa by effectively drafting, negotiating and finalizing customer contracts to help serve the company’s new customers as well as its existing customer base. You will also provide support and guidance on a variety of legal matters to other company divisions on an as-needed basis, including, dispute resolutions, compliance and local law matters.

Your Responsibilities

• Structure, draft, negotiate and finalize agreements and contracts in a professional manner in response to customer service requests within Africa
• Create special contract language and tailor agreement provisions to satisfy unique customer service requirements and address special business situations
• Play an active role in relation to opportunity evaluations, customer contracting, contract execution, contract monitoring, and identification of measurable commercial risks from a legal perspective
• Pro-actively support on legal matters associated with commercial agreements while maintaining appropriate legal protection ensuring that contract terms are accurately captured
• Provide support on ex export licensing and shipping, procurement
• Provide support in relation to debt collection litigation and participate to any related litigation/customer dispute resolution while ensuring all internal processes are applied
• Ensure proper implementation of all corporate policies within relevant area of responsibility
• Draft and negotiate as appropriate other agreements, like consultancy contracts, assignment agreements, NDA’s, agency type of arrangements etc

Your Profile

• University Law degree and minimum of 3-6 years relevant legal experience in international environment in a law firm or as in-house counsel, preferably in the telecommunications industry
• Advanced negotiation skills and ability to maintain high level of legal risk mitigation
• Ability to work across multi-function, multi-level and multi-cultural groups; must be a team player
• Pro-active and independent attitude, result oriented approachwith clear business approach
• Strong character and ability to hold ground in order to maintain high level of risk mitigation
• Strong ability to manage time, set priorities and work independently in an international oriented and demanding commercial environment
• Experience with international oriented and demanding commercial environment is required
• Capability to work accurately and in an organized manner with attention to detail
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Fluent in English, including written and legal English. French language skills would be an advantage
