    Head Of Data Management

    Job description

    Specific Key Result Areas

    • Reporting to the Data and Analytics Executive, the Head of Data Management will take responsibility for the prioritization, development, and management of the Master Data Systems, the provisioning of Data Services, the improvement in Party Data Quality and the business’s data acquisition strategy.
    • The incumbent will be responsible for Management of the Data Management Team which comprises of:Master Data Administration (MDA)

    Data Acquisition

    • Data Governance and Quality of our Party Data
    • OMSA Master Data Asset (GCS) including the Governance Framework and Policies to ensure good quality and increased utility.
    • The incumbent will be tasked with setting the priorities, policies and targets for data acquisition in support of the Old Mutual Emerging Markets Strategic and Financial Plan, and in accordance with the Group and Business Divisions marketing and IT strategies.
    • Success in the role will require client-facing activity and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish, build and maintain positive relationships collaborating at all levels with clients and stakeholders both internally and externally.
    • An intimate understanding of Master Data Management best practice including data enrichment and acquisition principles will be necessary to deliver in a fast moving Customer Centric business.

    Quality Assurance

    • Handles all queries in adherence with procedural and quality standards.
    • Manage the data integrity and data function that continuously improves party data quality.
    • Manages and co-ordinates the process of party data quality assurance.
    • Ensures adherence and compliance to the Data Governance Framework & Policies.

    Vendor & Contract Management

    • Manages service level agreements with suppliers and customers.
    • Establishes, monitors and reports SLAs and performance.
    • Ensures all established SLAs, agreements and commitments are met through proper planning and delegation.
    • Identify key vendor contacts and develop an execution model including value propositions for each targeted prospect.
    • Negotiate agreements with internal stakeholder and third parties as well as resolution of contractual issues related to those agreements.
    • Financial Control
    • Plans, manages and controls the Data Management budgets.
    • Optimizing the operation environment to drive business value based on the ability to weigh cost/usage and benefit to ensure what is acquired is appropriate and adds value to OMEM bottom line.

    Operational Delivery/Execution

    • Manages all aspects of data acquisition and Master Data Management.
    • Analyze and provide input on new data sources and recommend improvements to existing data and identify trends in information.
    • Assist in the design, development, and implementation of activities that collect, manage, and distribute data.
    • Create and track key performance metrics and develop strategies to achieve the metrics.
    • Deploy and manage internal and external resources needed to acquire information.
    • Develop strategies to identify new opportunities with key partners.
    • Identify and address issues that prohibit data access and data flow.
    • Reviews and approves check requests and other related tasks for accuracy and completeness.

    Relationship Building

    • Liaises with peers, business unit leaders in OMSA & relevant global partners to facilitate support and execute OMSA Customer Engagement plans.
    • Builds and maintains relationships with key stakeholders.
    • Delivery contracts with external clients: negotiate and manage.
    • Strong focus on cross functional operation and networking across internal and external boundaries.
    • Collaborates effectively with others to achieve results.
    • Ensure an ongoing, mutually beneficial relationship with strategic partners.
    • Interacts with corporate legal staff for all matters related to the acquisition of data.
    • Performs contract reviews, identifies areas of concern to the corporation and interacts with accounting and other relevant entities critical to the success of the OMSA Customer Engagement.

    Role Requirements

    • Bachelors Qualification
    • 5 to 10 years business experience preferred in a data management environment.
    • 5 years middle management experience managing business and/or technical teams.
    • Knowledge and experience in the insurance industry.
    • Knowledge and experience in working with data.
    • Knowledge and experience in Party Data Governance, Quality Management and Master Data Management.
    • Knowledge of the enterprise Data Warehouse Environment.
    • Ensures projects are delivered on time and within budget.
    • Co-ordinates work streams and projects within span of control.
