And what we're looking for is a smart copywriter who can work magic with words, be it for creative work, reports, or social media posts. If on top of this you are also passionate about and competent in the small matters of syntax, tense, punctuation, and the like, then why not consider applying for the position of copywriter in the Metropolitan Brand and Marketing team?

    Role Purpose

    • Provide specialist language advisory and writing capability.
    • Responsibilities and work outputs
    • Collaborate with the Metropolitan Brand and Marketing team members to conceptualise
    • communication plans and tactics in support of strategy.
    • Meet with colleagues, internal clients and project teams to consider communication and content requirements.
    • Interpret briefs and produce creative and effective ideas, messages and content.
    • Write compelling and grammatically correct copy for campaigns, communication collateral and social media; this applies mostly to internal communication, but you will also be called upon from time to time to assist with external communication.
    • Ensure copy is on point in terms of brand messaging, tone and language.
    • Liaise with communications agencies and production houses regarding the implementation of projects, when required.
    • Review copy written by other members of the team to ensure it is accurate and provide relevant feedback where necessary.
    • Proofreading and editing.
    • Develop and implement language and writing guidelines for the communication functions.
    • Ensure professional Plain Language standards are maintained, by providing a reviewing function to the communications team for all communications on behalf of key stakeholders.

    Experience and Qualifications

    • Relevant tertiary qualification in English, Journalism, Public Relations or Linguistics.
    • 3-5 years' experience in copywriting within an agency, corporate or similar environment.
