    Business Development Manager

    Job Description
    Job Summary:

    The Business Development Manager for Africa will play a central role in managing, facilitating and overseeing innovative and impactful approaches to grow Masimo’s business initiatives across the continent. This individual will play a key role in strengthening Masimo’s brand awareness across Africa, as well as developing innovative approaches to strengthen Masimo’s access, reach, and penetration in African markets. This individual will be will be a key representative for Masimo in Africa and will routinely liaise with key opinion leaders, Turnkey companies, and relevant organizations to identify needs and business opportunities. This individual will articulate current and future business development needs to Masimo internal staff, and will provide recommendations for strategy, development and engagement across the continent. S/he will be joining a fast-paced and dynamic organization with a mission to significantly improve patient outcomes and reduce the cost of care. S/he is expected to be a detail-oriented individual, with a “can do” attitude, and the ability to work in a team environment, as well as individually (with minimal supervision).

    Location:

    • The Business Development Manager has no direct reports. Masimo will consider all locations in Africa for the position location. The role has a direct report to the Masimo Distributor Manager for Africa with coordination and support to the Masimo Global Health Director

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Strengthen Masimo brand awareness
    • Develop Masimo’s market access, reach, and penetration through different sales channels (i.e. Turnkey Companies, Distributors, OEM Partners, Institutions, NGOs, etc.)
    • Intensify Clinical and Sales support of all Distributors
    • Strengthen Post Sales and Service support
    • Become a Masimo Brand Ambassador and Technology expert
    • Coordinate workshops to showcase Masimo’s product lines
    • Work in collaboration with the Masimo Distributor Manager and Marketing Department to organize ‘’Medical Education Days’’
    • Support Trade Shows, conferences, and relevant events to promote Masimo
    • Identification & Development of Key Opinion Leaders in each Key Market / Account
    • Responsible for all critical customer evaluations (with the help of local Distributors)
    • Partner with local Distributors to supervise and coordinate multi-site clinical evaluations using Masimo SET and Rainbow Technology for OEM partners, clinicians and clinical investigators.
    • Identify problem areas and assist with sales and transition to Masimo SET. [Rainbow]
    • Work with local Distributors to coordinate hospital installations in conversion to Masimo SET.
    • Assist in business intelligence research, data procurement and analysis.
    • Present a positive/professional image reflective of Masimo Corporation.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • 8+ years of hands-on experience including developing, operationalizing, and managing large-scale, complex projects with an emphasis on healthcare
    • Strong business network with demonstrated active involvement in projects with or closely connected to core business opportunities in the assigned region
    • Proven success in management of the business and or project development function including creation of multi-year strategic plans, health pipelines, revenue projections, and realization of projected revenue growth
    • Proactive in seeking out, synthesizing, presenting and disseminating information relevant to new business/program development including information on new opportunities, emerging needs and trends, innovations, existing programs/projects, potential donors and partnerships, and new business strategies
    • Proven ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, team-oriented environment including multitasking and flexibility in response to changing situations

    Required skills:

    • Outstanding written, verbal, influencing, and negotiation skills
    • Exceptional communication/personal skills (written and oral).
    • Excellent prioritizing, organizational, and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with multiple tasks/projects
    • Ability to work in a cross-functional, project team environment
    • Very good documentation skills including record maintenance/ tracking and understanding of document traceability
    • A detail-oriented individual, with a “can do” attitude, and the ability to work in a team environment, as well as individually (with minimal supervision)
    • Self-motivated and disciplined
    • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast moving matrix environment

    General abilities:

    • Fluent in English required; fluency in French is highly desired; Arabic or strong knowledge of any other African language(s) is a plus
    • Computer proficiency with MS Office (Word/Excel/Powerpoint/Outlook) Ability to work across many time zones and manage flexible, non-traditional working hours as required to meet goals
    • Able to travel up to 40% of the time, including international travel

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
    • Preferred degrees in Public Health, Social Sciences, International Development, Business, or related discipline.
    • Experience with the medical healthcare industry in Africa is a big plus.
