    Procurement Specialist

    Job description

    We are looking for a capable and experienced Procurement Professional who will add value to our newly formed Supply Chain organization. The role will focus on topics related to the Procurement of goods required for our production facility. The ideal candidate will independently implement improvements for procurement processes and enhance the way we work in order to reduce unnecessary operational costs and efforts.

    Tasks and Responsibilities:

    • Request and compare quotes from suppliers and choose best supply option based on quality, cost and lead time
    • Timely placing of purchase orders according to priorities list
    • Pro-active tracking of purchase orders: follow-ups, order confirmations, expediting, payments, etc.
    • Coordination with factory regarding purchased items required for scheduled manufacturing orders
    • Negotiate prices and contracts
    • Sourcing of new parts, identifying and on-boarding of capable vendors
    • Maintenance of purchasing data such as pricing, lead times, vendor material reference numbers, etc.
    • Problem solving with suppliers to guarantee on-time delivery and quality
    • Handle standard and urgent purchase requests
    • Participation in projects for supply cost reduction, localization of parts and reducing supply risks
    • Pro-active communication with internal customers on delays or other topics which may negatively influence an order / delivery
    • Coaching junior Procurement Officer and Learner
    • Implement measures and tools to reduce administrative work in Procurement. Constant improvement of the procurement processes
    • Commodity Group Management

    Qualifications and experience required:

    • Mandatory: grade 12 (matric)
    • Preferred: diploma / degree preferably in Supply Chain or Mechanical Engineering with a specialisation in Procurement / Purchasing
    • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Procurement in manufacturing industry with excellent knowledge of local supply market
    • Minimum 5 years’ work experience
    • Excellent computer skills, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint. SAP module(s) related to Procurement

    Skills and Requirements:

    • Experience in and passion for continuous improvement process
    • Able to multi-task and handle multiple priorities in a challenging, fast-paced environment
    • Possess a strong work ethic and team player mentality
    • Integrity, initiative, accuracy, prudence
    • Flexibility to adapt to other duties and tasks as and when required
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Works independently and takes initiative in fulfilling tasks and responsibilities
