Job description

To manage designated teams within the Transport environment in a culture of accelerated performance ensuring that it excels in compliance and achieving customer delivery expectations at competitive cost. Customer Service Manager and agents. The role requires working closely with customer Facing Supply Chain Managers, CBC and CFSC Analysts, Distribution Centre Manager and DC Team Leaders, SHE and Security Manager or Coordinator, Quality Manager or Coordinator, DC Controller or Assistant Controller, HRBP or HR Generalist and T&D Specialist

Key Responsibilities

• Planning and execution of all outbound deliveries in line with customer nominated delivery day (and requested delivery day)
• Communicate vehicle requirements to nominated and approved transportation vendors in time to meet customer delivery requirements
• Ensure that transportation vendors are compliant to all regulatory and NIMS requirements and that all transport incidents and accident are properly investigated and documented
• Managing transportation vendors in terms of contractual obligations as per agreements and addendums with vendors
• Ensure that monthly expenses for transportation is captured and accounted for on time and in full and where not possible that an accrual is done for these expenses
• Ensure monthly and/or annual fuel and base rate adjustments are calculated and shared with the DC controller or assistant controller and maintained in SAP before any purchase orders are created (with incorrect rates)
• Regular review of customer nominated delivery days in collaboration with transport service provider, customer service, customer facing supply chain and sales
• Ensure effective collaboration with customer service and customer facing supply chain to manage any delivery failures and/or any other special delivery requirements
• Select, retain, develop and lead the right people and maintain ER climate conducive to customer service delivery in the workplace

Key Requirements

• At least 3 years relevant and successful experience in transportation in a leadership role. A relevant B Degree or Diploma in Logistics or Transport Management or equivalent NQF 6 qualification
• Relevant operational experience at market/ business level, in the following areas is beneficial
• Customer Service
• Warehouse Management
• Supplier Relationship Management
• Experience in the management of projects specified below is beneficial
• Distribution Network Redesign
• High Performance Logistics
• Should have led a team
