    Cisco Technical Operations Specialist

    Job description

    Communication skills

    There must clear, effective and open channels of communications within the area.

    Technical skills

    • IPT
    • Setup IPT routers and switches setting them up from new for IPT retails stores phone systems.
    • Creating phones logons and user profiles.
    • Looking after Core Manager for phone systems.
    • Trouble shooting any phones problems, calling problems between retail stores with IPT systems and head office.
    • Have a good knowledge on CiscCall manager v11.5
    • Support and manage ciscfinesse
    • Proactive maintenance on all network and voice infrastructure
    • Network
    • Maintain and Manage all core router and network infrastructure.
    • Maintain and Manage all remote site router and switches
    • Trouble shooting any network related problems.
    • Maintain and support firewalls (ASA 5525x)
    • Understand and support fire power devices
    • Understand and support Sophos web filtering
    • Data Centre at Head office and Data Recovery Site
    • Make sure all servers are up all 100% up time and maintenance of all servers.
    • Make sure generator is operating fine and tank is always filled up with diesel. That it is services on regular intervals and in good working order.
    • UPS’s are functioning fine and that keep the power up when a power failure occurs and that the UPS kicks tkeep charge up.
    • Make air cons are in good working order tkeep data centre temperature at optimal temperature for servers.
    • Make sure fire depression tin good working order and serviced at a regular interval.
    • Solarwinds
    • Monitoring of all fibre lines and Server swe can proactively log calls immediately with Telkom or repair server.
    • Recording platform
    • Responsible for maintenance and setup of the call recording system Nice.

    Minimum expectations

    Be at work at 08:25, tstart our morning meeting at 08:30 and finished off at 17:30.

    After Hours – We will be given 24 hours’ notice in order twork after hours. After hours depends on the severity of the problem and might entail working throughout the night.

    The SOS consultant is alsrequired tbe on afterhours support providing support and assistance tthe Service Desk Consultant. The afterhours support is roster based. When you are on standby you need tbe available 24/7 for one week at a time as per the roster

    Reporting

    • Monthly trend analysis needs tbe done on the top 10 calls logged every month and a solution must be implemented treduce the incidences
    • Weekly and Monthly reports must be sent tthe leader tgive feedback on the technical operation department and will then be sent tthe IT Leader.

     

    Qualifications

    Description

    • 5 Years’ experience in the required field
    • The technical operations specialist should have a good knowledge of network infrastructure within the environment and configuration and setup of the equipment within the business.
    • CompTIA A+
    • CompTIA Application plus is an international IT certification that focuses on the computers and all its functions
    • CompTIA N+
    • CompTIA Network Plus is an international certification that focuses on the network infrastructure from a small home ta worldwide company upskilling a person with basic knowledge thereof.
    • CiscCCNA/CCNP or relevant network certification
    • CCNA (CiscCertified Network Associate) is an IT certification from Cisco. CCNA certification is an associate-level CiscCareer certification. CCNP Voice will be beneficial.

    The individual must be able tcommunicate clear and effectively when speaking or communicating via email with the consultant.

    Self-Motivated

    Working on core systems the individual must be self-motivated in order tcomplete projects and know the risks that come with changes and implementations as any changes that the individual implement can lead ta nationwide outage.

    Planning and documentation

    Planning and documentation is a vital role as this is core systems all changes have tbe planed and tested before implementation. Documentation needs tbe written in order tallow the other specialist tunderstand the change that took pace and how it affects the business.

    Time management

    The individual must be excellent in time management as when working on core infrastructure can only be done after hours thus giving the specialist 8 hours tcomplete any changes and test the systems tmake sure it was successful, and in some cases troll back should the specialist pick up any problems.
