National Technical Manager at Mazars

Purpose of the job

A position has become available within Mazars. The purpose of the role is to direct the quality control function of the Mazars Quality and Risk Management department within South Africa and the region.

Key duties and responsibilities:

• Participate in the full internal monitoring process of the firm in terms of ISQC1
• Oversee development of risk management policies and tools within Mazars
• Provide the necessary technical support to assurance engagement teams through e.g. technical consultations
• Manage reporting to and relationships with relevant regulators e.g. IRBA & JSE
• Manage reporting to and maintain international relationship with Mazars group in relation to quality and compliance
• Develop and present training related to quality and risk management matters in the assurance environment
• Manage projects related to quality and risk management within the firm on a national basis and for a number of other African offices
• Conduct technical due diligence reviews of potential new partners or firms joining Mazars.

Candidate requirements:

• CA(SA) is a requirement
• Minimum of 3 - 5 years’ experience out of articles
• Exceptional knowledge of and technical skill in applying, inter alia, ISA, IFAC Code of Ethics, ISQC1
• Ability to determine and implement functional strategy
• Ability to manage teams
• Ability to work in stressful conditions and under tight deadlines
• Ability to effectively manage decentralized projects
• Attention to detail and the ability to critically evaluate the quality of subject matter
