    BI Developer

    Job description

    Purpose of the Job

    A B.I. Developer will design and develop QlikView data models and dashboards to support end-user needs. The role requires complete comprehension of data models and utilisation of both relational and dimensional data sources. The ideal candidate will have experience in QlikView design and development with a general understanding of BI and reporting.

    This position is responsible for ongoing analysis of Ignition data and information, obtained from a variety of sources, including operational, financial, and demographic data. It involves development and preparation of information products for association staff and members. It requires the ability to analyse data from conceptualisation through to the presentation of the data. It requires knowledge of data analysis methodology, use of presentation software, and strong communication. The B.I. team also perform a key reporting role within the company through the use of Reporting Services software in addition to the B.I. tool (QlikView).

    A B.I. Developer is expected to be responsible for and manage a number of B.I. models and key processes with only minimal support from other B.I. staff.

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Create and maintain technical design documentation.
    • Perform complex data analysis in support of ad-hoc and standing requests.
    • Develop QlikView models to assist solving business questions and problems.
    • Responsible for training internal users on how to use the relevant software available to them.
    • Ensure that the QlikView server process continues to run and operate in the most efficient manner.
    • Use and support database applications and analytical tools: evaluate data quality, applications, and functions, produce output, and maintain operations.
    • Research new data sources and analytical tools; contribute to new product development and improvement in product delivery and presentation.

    Educational Requirements

    • Bachelors Degree or higher in relevant field
    • Over 2 years high quality experience developing full-time in Qlikview

    Required Skills/Experience

    • ETL tools: Advanced SSIS
    • BI/Reporting : Qlikview/Power BI/ SSRS or SSAS
    • Programming languages: JAVA, C# , Python, SAS or R
    • Experience with NoSQL databases and/or campaign management tools will be advantageous.
    • Minimum 3 years’ applicable work experience in SQL, relational databases and data manipulation.
    • Experience in big data platforms (eg. Hadoop) or processing frameworks (eg. MapReduce/Spark) and querying tools (eg. Pig, Hive and Impala) will be highly beneficial.

    • Experience developing in Qlikview
    • Database application development
    • Experience developing in QlikSense
    • Working with large and complex data files
    • Excellent Written and Verbal Communication Skills

    • MS SQL
    • IBM Cognos TM1
    • Microsoft PowerBi experience
