    Data Scientist

    Job description

    Role description

    Working closely with our team of engineers, salespeople and analysts you will use sophisticated models to help businesses’ customers harness their data to optimise their strategy and operations. Use your business experience and creativity to translate domain problems into computational and mathematical problems. Apply your analytical skills, using the BusinessOptics platform and other analytical tools to produce machine learning models, deep neural network models and artificial intelligence-based solutions to add business value to clients. Measure the value added and communicate it clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences up to an executive level.

    Responsibilities

    The role will require you to:

    • become fluent in analytical modelling using BusinessOptics’s modelling platform,
    • engage with clients in order to understand their needs,
    • translate customer problems into mathematical and computational problems and solve these problems using the BusinessOptics platforms and other analytical tools,
    • recognise when existing solutions can be generalised to solve new problems
    • measure and communicate added business value to the customer,
    • manage client relationships and expectations,
    • manage projects and
    • support the sales team by:
    • communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders at clients throughout the organisational structure up to an executive level
    • delivering proof of concepts that either meet defined success criteria or identify insights upon which solutions can be created and sold to customers
    • providing content and analysis for proposals for new business
    • identify opportunities at customers to deliver additional value and work with the sales team to sell solutions to those opportunities

    Minimum qualifications

    • A Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering, actuarial science) or equivalent experience
    • 3 years experience working in an analytical business environment
    • Experience working with data tools such as SQL
    • Strong analytical skills
    • Experience communicating with technical and non-technical audiences
    • Knowledge of a general purpose programming language (C++/Java/Python...)
    • Self-direction and eagerness to learn

    Preferred qualifications

    • A Master’s degree in a quantitative field
    • 5 years experience working in an analytical business environment
    • Programming experience in C++/Java/Python…
    • Working understanding of descriptive and inferential statistics
    • Familiarity with machine learning techniques
