    BI Tech Lead

    Job description

    The Role:

    You will drive and take ownership of various technologies to build features, reports, enabling large-scale processing of data supporting Impact Radius Products. You will be part of an Agile/Scrum team and are expected to mentor/lead squad members. The technical lead is responsible for delivering quality reports solutions that meet the needs of internal & external partners.

    Requirements:

    • At least 5 years’ experience in projects that varies in size, technology and domain.
    • Experience with common data science toolkits, such as R, Weka, NumPy, MatLab, etc. Excellence in at least one of these is highly desirable
    • Experience with data visualisation tools, such as D3.js, GGplot, etc.
    • Machine learning techniques and algorithms, such as k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Forests, etc.
    • Query languages such as SQL, Hive, Pig
    • Experience with NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB, Cassandra, HBase
    • Good applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
    • Ability to supervise all aspects of development work (database, ETL, Reporting)
    • Strong experience with Microsoft BI, SQL data warehouse.
    • Ability to work in a team and guide the delivery process.
    • A sound knowledge of the systems components making up the entire Business Intelligence system architecture.
    • System design and architecture experience.

    Responsibilities:

    • Analyzing reporting requirements
    • Designing, implementing and testing reports to those requirements
    • Collaborate with the Data Architect(s) to ensure solutions are scalable and fit within the broader architectural vision.
    • Optimize code and streamline processes to improve performance and platform stability and reduce overall system load.
    • Become intimately familiar with the Cloudera technology stack: Spark, Hadoop, HDFS, Kafka, HBase, Impala, Oozie, Sqoop, etc.
    • Respond to alerts, review error messages, and fix bugs in a timely manner.
    • Perform data quality analysis and introduce monitors and alerts to maintain it.
    • Collaborate with the squad and broader team to fulfill the department's quarterly objectives.
    • Ensure squad technology deliverables are aligned with departmental and company goals.
    • Assist systems group with database and other infrastructure upgrades (sometimes off-hours/weekends).
    • Gain and maintain a deep understanding of the business and product domain to deliver effective solutions.
