Assistant Route Manager at Zimile Consulting Engineers

Zimile Consulting Engineers is looking for 6 Assistant Route Managers to join their team in Mpumalanga. The ideal candidates should be must have below minimum requirements:

Key Requirements:

• National Diploma in Civil Engineering.
• 0 - 5 years' experience and exposure.
• Experience and exposure in Routine Road Maintenance or Road Construction

Professional Membership Registration:

•  Candidate Engineer/Technician registered with ECSA

Key duties and responsibilities:

The Route manager shall ensure that all the work required under the Works Contract is carried out in accordance with the specifications and current best practice and shall include effective financial control. Construction monitoring shall be carried out in a pro-active manner and in accordance with the Employer’s standard requirements and current best practice.

The Route manager shall be responsible for the normal duties associated with the management and supervision of a Works contract, which duties shall, inter alia, include:

• Normal day-to-day management of work required under the Work Contract.
• Monitoring and reporting on the daily activities and conformance of the Contractor and Sub-contractors to the Route Manager in accordance with the Work Contract.
• Attending meetings on behalf of the Route Manager in which the community and/or labour is present (possibly after hours and on weekends)
• Attending monthly / site meetings with the Client and Contractor or as required by the Route Manager.
• Keeping a daily written record of all activities undertaken on site, inspections completed, and concerns / problems identified regarding the Works Contract.
• On site checking and submitting of quantities measured by the Contractors site supervisory staff for the Route Manager.
• Assisting the Route Manager in settling any disputes or differences that may arise.
• Assist the Route Manager in the collection and capturing of data and records from various Service Authorities relating to Road Incident Management System (RIMS) functions, statutory and safety functions.
• Assist in the management of ITIS software, issuing of job instructions using ITIS/ITIS Mobile, capturing of contract related data and any other associated duty relating to the ITIS modules
• All such other duties as agreed upon or that may be obligated to the Assistant Route Manager by the Route Manager.

In addition to duties related to the normal day-to-day activities of the Works, the Route Manager may be required to assist with the supervision of separate regional road maintenance contracts inter alia, road marking and road signs. They shall represent the Employer at community forums and local fire protection associations when instructed. In addition, they shall be responsible for Incident Management System, Road Safety, Statutory Control functions and Slope Management System.
