Database as a Service or Data Platforms is a fully capable team that delivers full stack services relating to database technologies. We are a team that strives on improving skill sets and customer obsession. Every business application requires a database engine to store, manage and process transactions/data. Databases are the heart for information storage and management. Absa uses database software from Microsoft (MSSQL), Oracle and IBM. The CTO Database team is looking for a Support Engineer with DB2 experience

Key critical requirements and responsibilities:

• 3 - 5 years' relevant DB2 experience
• DB2 UDB (UNIX, LINUX, Windows) certified (advantageous)
• Database Architecture
• Databases on Cloud (MongoDB, Redis, MySQL, PostGres)
• Supporting DB2 on Unix, Linux and Windows
• Database Performance Monitoring and Tuning
• Ensure Database Availability at all times
• Database Security and Audit
• Database Backup and Recovery
• Upgrades and patching
• Capacity Management
• Maintain Data Integrity
• Migration
• Troubleshoot incidents and permanent fixes
• Monitor and analyses performance issues.
• Work with numerous technical teams to improve core infrastructure.
• Provide DBA Support for customers, application developers and production support teams.
• Ensure compliance with operational / change management guidelines
• High Availability and Disaster recovery

DB2 services

• Consulting, design, engineering for database products.
• Operational support and management for monitoring, capacity, availability, security, backups and maintenance.
• Data archiving support and performance tuning.
• This service hosting is centered around the IBM DB2 database product.

Education

• Bachelor's Degree: Information Technology
