About the job
About Naspers Labs:
Naspers Labs is the social impact vehicle for the Naspers Group, driven by the goal to solve for South Africa’s youth unemployment challenge. We understand that for many young South Africans, in particular, those from vulnerable households, the transition into the labour markets and economic activity is difficult and can be quite discouraging. The barriers which inhibit our youth’s active participation in the economy (be it labour markets/ entrepreneurship) are somewhat systemic. For example, educational outcomes, skills and labour mismatch, and even inequality, wherein youth with limited networks and lack of access to social networks are unable to access employment opportunities and the adequate support for those who are entrepreneurial. At Naspers Labs, we are at the forefront to solve for this challenge, providing industry led innovative solutions to enable our young South Africans to access employment opportunities in an increasingly digital world.
We achieve this in two ways: (a) collaborating with industries and skills development delivery partners for job creation – at scale, (b) entrepreneurship: applying the patient capital model to support, coach, mentor and accelerate black owned tech and tech enabled youth micro enterprises to gain market access, social capital (networks) required to scale their businesses; and to make a sustainable impact to their local economies.
