Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the position of a Sales Representative based in Richards Bay. This position reports into the Operations Manager. The successful incumbent will be responsible for representing Chandling International (Pty) Ltd and for fulfilling the Sales function in Richards Bay.
Key performance areas:
Track the movements of ships and the estimated arrival in port to plan orders so that the delivery is conducted seamlessly.
Liaise with captain and crew of vessels coming into port to ensure that all requisition items are received by the vessels.
Ensure an open line of communication between the captain coming into port and that all their requirements are met timeously and efficiently.
Ensure that all documentation is signed off and stamped by the captain of a vessel coming into port.
Ensure cash is collected on completion of deliveries.
Respond to all queries pertaining to the vessels order, once the vessels are in port.
Develop strong relationships with key clients to maintain a high level of service and client loyalty.
Proactively investigate new opportunities for business by engaging and keeping up to date with relevant stakeholders and source and secure new customers for Chandling International
General and securing additional sales through liaising with master’s and crew.
General leads to sales team on opportunities to increase sales.
Perform various administrative duties, including preparing expense and commission reports.
Work cohesively with the team within Chandling International to ensure quality and a high level of service.
Matric with a Post graduate qualification in Marketing/ Sales /Supply Chain preferable.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Sales Representative
A sound knowledge of the sales function within the shipping industry and experience within the ship chandling industry in Richards Bay
Proven track record in achieving gross profit and monthly budgeted sales targets.
Experience in negotiating and closing of a sale.
Good knowledge of port/customs/security requirements is needed.
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
Good negotiation skills and excellent attention to detail.
Service delivery driven and customer focused.
Trustworthy with an honest work ethic.
Sound people skills with the ability to quickly build rapport with customers.
Deadline driven with the ability to work in a highly competitive and pressurized sales environment.
Flexibility to work beyond normal working hours as per the business requirements.
Valid driver’s licence
