Job Description:

• This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a dynamic and diverse team of highly skilled and motivated idealists making a difference in energy access across the continent. You will contribute to SustainSolar’s growth as a leading equipment supplier and manufacturer in sub-Saharan Africa. The selected candidate will:
•  Oversee the delivery of projects i.e., from confirming design requirements with the technical and business development, procurement of required equipment, coordinate manufacture.
•  Oversee installation, operations and maintenance of SustainSolar equipment.
•  Work closely with the Senior Electrical Engineer and the engineering teams but also support the business development team to understand design requirements, budget constraints to deliver projects on time and within budgets.
•  Have strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with clients on progress.
•  Liaise with network of SustainSolar partners to resolve any technical issue.
•  Oversee factory acceptance test (FAT)
•  Streamline handover process with clients’ technical team.
•  Ensure projects are delivered on-time, in full, within budget, with no error.
•  Be expected to travel internationally to support SustainSolar on-site installation across sub-Saharan Africa.

Requirements:

•  Degree in Electrical, Electronical, or Electro-Mechanical Engineering (Master’s degree would be preferrable)
•  3+ years’ experience working in the renewable energy sector, most specifically solar PV and energy storage, battery management systems.
•  3+ years’ experience in installation, operation and maintenance of solar systems, successfully overseeing factory acceptance tests.
•  Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience working as an electrical engineer, with prior experience in solar system design (i.e., single line diagram)
•  Ability to work in a team as well as independently.
•  Analytically inclined self-motivated and driven.
•  Excellent relationship-building skills
•  Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•  MS Office proficient
•  Ability to speak French and/or or Portuguese would be highly beneficial.
•  Driver’s license

Position Details
Type of contract: Full Time
Place of work: Cape Town (South Africa). The office is located at 53 Carlisle Street, Paarden Eiland.
Start date: Start 02 August 2021 (Negotiable)
