Job Purpose:

• To carry out the installation, modification and all preventative and breakdown maintenance work to electronic and related technical equipment.

Key Responsibility Areas:

• Investigate the malfunctioning of telemetry installations and associated equipment.
• Process orders for services and materials to contractors and suppliers.
• Undertake breakdown maintenance work to electronic instrumentation, telemetry, radio communications installations and related hardware.
• Supervise subordinate staff.

Essential Requirements:

• National Diploma in Electronic Engineering or Equivalent.
• Registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa as a Professional Technician in Electronic Engineering.
• Valid motor vehicle driver’s license (Code B).
• 3 Years of relevant post-qualification experience.
• Computer Literacy.

Special Conditions:

• Subject to call-outs and weekend work. Must be prepared to work on a call out roster. Posts of Technician (Electronic Engineering) and Senior Technician (Electronic Engineering) are interchangeable within the Department at the discretion of the Deputy Head. Work sample and/or psychometric tests may be undertaken as part of the selection process.
