    Actuarial Analyst

    The Role

    Aon Re Africa is recruiting an Actuarial Analyst. The Actuarial Analyst supports the broking function by providing analytical and/or statistical information, structures and solutions by liaising with clients and the broader Aon Reinsurance team.

    This position complies with the Company’s Employment Equity Policies.

    As Actuarial Analyst some of your key responsibilities will include:

    • Liaise closely with analytics team, brokers and clients to identify client needs.
    • Create, test and run models for clients based on their current structures in order to provide a range of proposed options and solutions.
    • Analyse results and make recommendations to the Broking teams.
    • Keep up to date with trends, best practice solutions and suggest improvements where possible.
    • Create and enhance reporting templates.
    • Create and enhance tools for pricing, benchmarking etc.
    • Document processes and train colleagues on how to use the tools.
    • Obtain and analyse relevant data from clients to determine trends, patterns and anomalies.
    • Maintain market information databases and analyse market trends.
    • Provide ongoing support to Brokers in terms of using the market data for benchmarking and reporting.
    • Assist with data preparation and model runs for catastrophe management.
    • Interpret catastrophe modelling results and incorporate into a broader analytical framework.
    • Identify opportunities and the need to develop new tools and/or upgrade and enhance existing tools and models and processes. (E.g., pricing, benchmarking and reporting).
    • Responsible for engaging in business development and/or contributing directly or indirectly to all business development efforts in Aon South Africa.

    Role-specific Technical Skills, Knowledge and Experience

    Qualifications

    • Be in possession of Grade 12 (Matric)
    • A bachelor’s degree with majors in actuarial science and/or statistics

    Skills, Attributes & Knowledge

    • Advanced computer literacy, especially MS office, including advanced Excel skills.
    • Proficiency in data analytic software, e.g. SAS, R , Python, would be advantageous.
    • Experience in ReMetrica or other Dynamic Financial Analysis software will be advantageous.
    • Experience in VBA coding will be an advantage.

    Knowledge

    • Advanced computer literacy, especially MS office, including advanced Excel skills.

    Experience

    • Preferably have 2 to 3 years' experience in a similar environment
    • Experience in the short-term or reinsurance industry will be advantageous.
