    Actuarial Manager

    The detail

    Financial & Risk Reporting

    • Manage the annual and monthly valuations of the businesses.
    • Capital Management of each entity.
    • Own the related Risk Management issues in the Group.
    • Manage the SAM Project, which involves the annual ORSA, QRTs, Capital Models etc.
    • Effectively manage teams to ensure that valuation, capital and other risk reporting are produced accurately, within agreed deadlines and with appropriate supporting commentary.

    Business Planning / Forecasting

    • Run the annual actuarial budgeting process and actuarial related entries of the Annual Financial Statements.
    • Develop and maintain appropriate actuarial and business planning tools and models to deliver the outputs listed above.
    • Produce information for forecasting and ongoing monitoring (outside of valuation periods) of the financial impacts of the business strategy.

    Business Partnering

    • Underwriting function: Development of profitable and innovative new products and the pricing thereof.
    • Manage the economics of the various distribution channels.
    • Build and run profitability models for the range of products, channels and campaigns that are active.
    • Engage with various partners (re-assurers, distribution channels, product partners and regulators).
    • Conduct due diligence/viability/feasibility analyses as required.
    • Extract insights for business consideration and collaborate effectively within the various businesses and specialized areas across all levels.

    IFRS 17 implementation

    • Manage the company’s preparation for and reporting against IFRS 17 standards and the transition of reporting into BAU.

    Reporting Capability:

    • Align actuarial reporting with published ASSA Guidance Notes and other regulatory requirements
    • Ensure processes and models are efficient, robust and fit for purpose.
    • Drive synergies and standardization across the product reporting teams and ensure the control environment is adequate and effective.

    Ad-hoc projects:

    • Support the delivery of relevant projects objectives, as and when these arise.

    Team Management

    • Build a strong team, including team resourcing, succession planning, management and development ensuring the right people are in place to support service delivery, achieving business objectives and performance targets always.
