Architect: Technology Platform at Capitec Bank

Purpose Statement

• The role involves definition, design, implementation and adoption of the platform design and architecture. Ensuring that all technologies work effectively together and deliver an end-to-end integrated system. The position requires a background in SOA, secure application development and cloud technologies.

Desired Skills and Experience

Experience

Minimum:

• At least 5 - 7 years' relevant design and developement experience or extensive experience in delivering and supporting platforms and frameworks for customers outside of own team
• Basic project management experience
• Development using one of the following: Java, NODE.JS or .NET
• Strong understanding of cloud and infrastructure concepts

Qualifications (Minimum)

• Grade 12 National Certificate / Vocational
• A relevant degree in Information Technology

Qualifications (Ideal or Preferred)

• A relevant post-graduate qualification in Information Technology

Knowledge

Minimum:

• Must have detailed knowledge of:
• In-depth understanding of core IT infrastructure concepts: data centers, security, networking, storage, compute, and software applications
• This person will need to develop a relationship with all teams across the organization to get work accomplished.

Ideal:

• Detailed knowledge of:
  • Banking systems
  • Agile development life cycle
• Knowledge of UML
• Solid understanding of:
  • Capitec Bank's systems environment
  • Capitec Bank business model
  • Best practices for Quality Assurance (QA)
  • Object Orientated Development environment (i.e. Java, Spring Framework, JBoss)
