    Assistant Technical Manager (Water) | Claremont

    The Faircape Group is seeking an experienced and professional Assistant Technical Manager to join our Faircape Utility Solutions team.     The Faircape Group presents a unique opportunity to work for a highly successful and progressive group with modern offices, centrally located in Claremont, Cape Town.

    The successful candidate will provide advanced technical support and project management with regards to water meter projects, emergency generators, utility management, and general operations. The incumbent will report to the HOD Water Division.

    Duties will include, but are not limited to

    Water Meter Projects

    • Perform site inspections for new business proposals
    • Provide site report and photo's, and advise on requirements
    • Arrange quotes for projects
    • Project manage installation
    • Provide record of meter installed and associated meter number
    • Update relevant systems with the necessary details
    • Prepaid meters - pair meters with keypad and label accordingly'register meter on vending system, inform EasyPay to add meters
    • Smart meters – program meter notification flow, register meter on READy system, install

    Emergency Generator Management

    • Monthly routine generator inspections and no-load tests
    • Monthly generator management reports
    • Submit reports for approval and email to relevant responsible persons once signed off
    • Six monthly load tests
    • Maintain schedule for annual services and arrange annual services when due
    • Maintain schedule for battery replacement and arrange battery replacement when due
    • Oversee all repairs and maintenance
    • Check fuel and refuel when necessary
    • Arrange for the acquisition of diesel supplies and arrange for delivery thereof and keep record of diesel supplied
    • Attend to generator failures during normal and after hours

    READy Smart Water Meter System Administration

    • Allocate meters to customers / addresses, add meter, edit meter location
    • Monitor various alarm notifications
    • Report alarms received to relevant persons and keep a record of alarms and resolutions
    • Extract information from the system to assist with billing queries or investigations e.g. meter details data and / or graphical representation of consumption
    • On site readings with hand held device and upload to READy system

    Pre-paid Electricity & Water Meter System

    • Prepaid electricity & water meter registration and allocation
    • Generating prepaid tokens on request
    • Assisting with meter “move out” of “Move in” when requested
    • Extracting various prepaid reports from the system
    • Issuing replacement tokens
    • Generating Key change tokens

    Landis Gyr Map 110 & Map 120 Administration

    • Register and set up meters on Map 110 system to enable remote reading
    • Configure Meters and communication modules with Map 120 software
    • Install and enable communication to the meters for remote access from Map 110
    • Download data, load profiles, etc from Landis +Gyr meters
    • Map 110 – interpret load profile and calculate consumption

    Technical Support

    • Attend to prepaid meter faults
    • General investigations on site to assist with utility queries
    • Assist meter readers on site when required
    • Site investigations and reporting for new building utility services
    • CoCT meter investigations and updating of CoCT invoices with correct information
    • Email queries

    Qualifications
    Requirements

    • Matric
    • Mechanical Engineering qualification

    Experience and Knowledge

    • Relevant experience in a similar role
    • Experience in the utility filed
