    Behavioural Leadership Coach

    We are looking for a dynamic Behavioural Leadership Coach for our Sunninghill branch.

    Your 5 years in Health and Safety Management experience in the EPCM or related organisation coupled with your 3 years experience in Behavioural Management programs will guide DRA on our journey to a total Safety Culture.

    Delivering of training and coaching to leadership and front-line supervision to support the behaviour management program. Provide support to the behaviour management team to deliver a consistent message to the organisation.

    The key roles and responsibility of the position would include:

    • Manage scheduling of Behaviour Coaching Team (BCT) engagements across projects including all training, coaching, and Site Implementation Team (SIT) stand ups. Field requests for BCT services from Project Managers (PM). Schedule and deploy BCT members to site.
    • Responsible for ongoing revision and improvement of People Based Safety (PBS) training materials and SIT management tools (e.g., charters, observation processes, meeting management, analysis techniques, action logs, evaluation, and interactions with project leadership).
    • Conduct planning sessions with Project Managers prior to project start-ups to plan elements of PBS and BCT Coaching, set up metrics and funding.
    • Establish tender guidelines for PBS requirements with Project Managers and their contractors. Socialize and establish common guidelines for tenders throughout projects.
    • Manage Behaviour Data System by configuring metrics software inputs and outputs for each project.
    • Use Behaviour Data System to collect and analyse behavioural and coaching data across projects. Deliver the behaviour program and coaching feedback graphics to Project managers and SIT with coaching commentary.
    • Deliver monthly Behaviour key performance indicators (KPIs) to the Project Manager Steering Team (PMST) and DRA leadership.
    • Deliver SIT Facilitator Training equipping them to recruit SIT members, run SIT meetings, create contractor-specific observation cards, manage local behaviour hardware/software, deliver graphic behaviour trends, rotate behavioural targets, interact with project and contractor leadership and engage with their BCT support.
    • Deliver Behaviour Leadership Training to project and contractor leadership in advance of project kick-offs.
    • Maintain list of each project’s SIT discipline-specific pinpointed behaviour being used in observation cards. Provide behavioural trends for each pinpoint providing guidance for when to conduct ABC Analyses and when to celebrate by retiring a pinpoint and adopting another. Maintain a discipline-specific “library” of the best pinpointed behaviours and deliver suggested pinpoints to SIT Facilitators when appropriate.
    • Facilitate ABC Analyses when requested by SITs and PMs on behavioural pinpoints that maintain at-risk status. Schedule ABC Analyses through inviting workers and FLS involved in the task, engineers and other support functions who plan/support the task, and project leadership. Develop and track action Items across levels of involvement (SIT, Project Leadership, DRA Head Office). Maintain an action log of successful solutions to at-risk pinpointed behaviour and disseminate to projects when behavioural trends show similar risks.
    • Collect and share Actively Caring best practices through gathering project case studies from their Actively Caring awards. Summarize reports for DRA Leadership in monthly PBS Reports.
    • Train HSE Managers in PBS management and coaching. Offer annual behavioural training to HSE professionals on emergent issues and new practices.
    • Coach Project Managers and their teams to effectively manage behaviour for the safe execution of their projects assuring the wellbeing of their people. Build relationships with leaders, Project Managers, Project Teams, and HSE professionals. Coach Project Teams in pinpointing behaviours consistent with their role in safety management and the support of the front-line worker. Coach Project Teams in behavioural analysis techniques to identify the contingencies and systems governing behaviour. Coach Project Teams in intervention tactics to change contingencies and systems for behaviour change.
    • Offer DRA Leaders one-on-one coaching on effective leadership behaviours. Travel with leaders on their Leadership Engagement Tours (LET) to sites guiding their itinerary, coaching their behaviours, and processing their learnings.
    • Offer behavioural expertise as HSE continuously improves its safety management systems of risk assessments, incident investigations, and learning metrics.
    • Engage the Shared Support and Project Support functions to support the safe performance of the front-line workers. Train support personnel in behaviour management. Coach functional teams in pinpointing behaviours consistent with their role in safety management and the support of the front-line worker. Offer one-on-one coaching on effective leadership behaviours. Provide functional units with objective assessments of their current safety behaviour and wellness performance.
    • Provide for the effective extension of DRA’s Values and behavioural expertise to Africa and the world. Build relationships with major contractor companies and clients. Build a suite of behavioural consultation offerings to market inside and outside DRA Global. Market and deliver BCT services to external companies as a value centre for DRA.
    • Deliver training, consulting solutions, and coaching to DRA contractor partners and major clients.
    • Facilitate an annual People-Based Safety Summit to share stories and best practices, learn from experts, and market to outside organisations.

    Qualifications:      

    • SAMTRAC/equivalent is essential
    • Incident investigation training certificate is essential
    • Risk management training certificate will be advantageous
    • Legal liability certificate will be advantageous
    • National Diploma or higher qualification in Safety Management/psychology or equivalent will be advantageous

    Remuneration:

    A competitive market related salary, benefits and incentive structure commensurate with qualifications and experience will be negotiated with successful candidates.
