    Benefits Realisation Specialist

    About the job

    Role Purpose

     The purpose of the role is to identify, baseline, profile, plan, track and report the benefits. The role involves developing and then managing the processes and management systems needed to support and govern effective benefits enablement and realisation to ensure the BU meets its objectives and realises its target financial savings.

    The role is responsible for embedding and aligning the concept and principles of benefits realization, as well as the creation and management of a benefits realisation plan. It assists key stakeholders in understanding how a programme is tracking and whether what is being delivered meets its overarching strategic goals.

    The role is responsible for embedding and aligning the concept and principles of benefits realisation and contributes to a change in culture and behaviour across the force in respect of benefits management and to train, educate and mentor where appropriate, those staff directly involved in the delivery of business benefits.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop and support the Benefits Realisation strategy and ensure that it continues to be fit for purpose.
    • Support strategic business change by developing working practices which link benefits management into efficiency planning, performance measurement and ‘value for money’ delivery, ensuring benefit led project prioritization.
    • Responsible for enhancing the organisational understanding and knowledge of benefits management.
    • Maintains industry standard professional and technical knowledge.
    • Defining, evaluating, recommending, monitoring and assuring benefits derived from component projects and the overarching change portfolio across the whole investment lifecycle.
    • Defining, managing and updating the organisations benefit map against investment outcomes, profiles, interdependencies and realisation plans;
    • Provides assurance that all selected component projects are aligned to the agreed benefits strategy and map and any impact identified.
    • Provides the cost, benefit analysis data of the component projects business cases and how these align to the portfolio benefits map.
    • Supports management's decision making by analysing benefit options and predicting future costs.
    • Support strategic business change within the force by developing working practices which link benefits management into efficiency planning, performance measurement and ‘value for money’ delivery ensuring benefit led project prioritisation.
    • Monitors benefit realisation plans and benefit review schedules.
    • Ensuring benefits reporting is timely and highlights necessary risks and issues
    • Analyses variances and initiating corrective actions with the benefit owners
    • Reviews the impact on the portfolio benefits of new projects, change requests, environmental or strategic/TOM changes
    • Provides assurance to the organisation that the benefits are measurable, realistic and achievable and that the risks to the benefits are being effectively managed
    • Identifies benefits within the various stages of the business case development

    Qualifications:

    Post Graduate Degree in Commerce, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering or related field  

    Experience

    • Seasoned professional with 4 years’ experience in strategy and/or management consulting, Strategic and Digital Innovation or related experience, with exposure to Systems Thinking
    • Banking, and financial services, ICT exposure essential
    • In depth knowledge of defining, implementing and refining Benefits Realisation Strategies, techniques, processed and tools within financial services
