    Business Consultant

    Position Purpose

    The Business Consultant is a core member of a layered, multi-disciplinary team responsible for designing, developing, testing and implementing a business solution. The Business Consultant’s responsibility will be to support a client’s product proposition and operating model throughout the implementation of the Sonata software package within Wealth Management clients.

    Main Activities

    • Business process; collaborate with client staff to define how an in-scope business process will be fulfilled through the alignment of people, process and technology;
    • Requirements; document what the technology platform needs to achieve to support the client’s operating model, organisation structure and ways of working;
    • Solutioning; identify how the client’s technology requirements can be best supported within the Sonata platform through configuration or new development;
    • Configuration; participate in the configuration of the Sonata application;
    • Test criteria; develop the criteria that engineering staff will use to ensure that any development work has been successfully completed;
    • Test support; analyse incidents arising from user test to determine whether the Sonata application is working as expected;
    • Work administration; plan and account for all implementation effort expended.
    • Stakeholder management; build and maintain stakeholder relationships

    Key skills

    • Strong analytical skills including knowledge of UML or other structured analysis method
    • Organised with the ability to plan and achieve outcomes
    • Clear communication style, whether written or oral, effective in presentations
    • Thorough knowledge of technology and the opportunities afforded by digital working methods
    • Consultative and an effective influencer
    • Ability to apply analytical skill and conceptual thinking to operations and system planning
    • Ability to collaborate with clients
    • Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation and facilitation skills
    • Resilience including the ability to work effectively under time pressure
    • Ability to work in a team environment
    • Proactive approach to work
    • Proven eagerness for continual personal development
    • Commercial awareness
    • Capable of working on-site at client offices

    Qualifications and Experience

    • A minimum of 3 years of experience of working within successful technology implementation programmes in a consulting/client facing capacity 
    • Experience of multiple, end-end implementations of large financial applications Financial Services background essential
    • Wealth Management experience preferable 
    • Experience of South African retail savings and investment products preferred
