    Business Intelligence Officer

    Minimum Requirements:

    • B. Degree in Computer Science or related field, preferably with a statistics and mathematical background
    • Relevant Microsoft SQL certifications will be preferable (MSCP etc.)

    Minimum Experience Required:

    • Overall, 10 years’ experience within an IT environment
    • 6 - 8 years’ experience within a Business Intelligence Developer / Analyst role
    •  5 + Years’ experience in working with SQL Server including SQL objects development, performance tuning, data analysis and integration.
    • 2 years’ experience within a role, having worked with SQL queries, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
    • In-depth understanding of database management systems, online analytical processing (OLAP) and ETL (Extract, transform, load) framework
    • Strong knowledge of BI presentation technologies (e.g. Microsoft Power BI, Oracle BI)
    • Experience in working with AI software robots, deep data mining and trend analysis
    • Expert knowledge of Data Management, Business Intelligence and Analytics concepts including:   
    • Extract, Transform, Load (ETL), Data Warehousing, Data Lakes, Data Marts, Data Stores, and Cubeso   Data Quality and Profiling,o   Data Governance, Master Data Management, and Metadata Managemento   Data Visualization, Dashboard, Reporting, Self Service Business Intelligence (BI), Key Performance Indicators (KPI), and Scorecardso   Predictive, Prescription, and Descriptive Analytics        

    Minimum of 2 years' experience in managing / leading a team of BI’s, having had exposure to the following:

    • Team size a minimum of at least 2 direct reports
    • Facilitate the establishment of team structure and roles and planning for resource allocation for projects
    • Recruiting and hiring for an expanding BI team in conjunction with HR
    • Staff forecasting and resource planning
    • Onboarding and training new hires
    • Coaching, reviewing and encouraging growth
    • Regular one on one meetings and team meetings with team members
    • Conducting performance appraisals and identifying areas for improvement
    • Proven experience in assisting team to reach departmental and organizational objectives
    • Identify, manage and monitor any disciplinary issues within the team in conjunction with HR

    Responsibilities:

    • Remain current on industry trends with respect to BI capabilities.          
    • Designing, developing and maintaining business intelligence solutions          
    • Crafting and executing queries upon request for data         
    • Develop and manage BI solutions         
    • Identify and resolve BI report related issues.          
    • Develop optimal and scalable Business Intelligence (BI) application to meet customer needs. 
    • Design, develop, test and implement data warehouse systems for BI reporting and analysis.   
    • Documenting contents in a data warehouse and meta-data storage          
    • Execute BI projects within assigned budget and timelines.         
    • Manage upgrades, modifications, maintenance and troubleshooting of BI systems.       
    • Validate data warehouse system for data integrity, quality and accuracy          
    • Design, build and deploy BI solutions (e.g. reporting tools)         
    • Maintain and support data analytics platforms (e.g. MicroStrategy)         
    • Setting business requirements for BI tools         
    • Create tools to store data (e.g. OLAP cubes)          
    • Conduct unit testing and troubleshooting
    • Create and analyze BI reporting processes and suggest improvements          
    • Translate business needs to technical specifications          
    • Identify development needs in order to improve and streamline operations          
    • Provide recommendations to enhance BI system performance and capacity.
    • Create and maintain documentation including requirements, design and user manuals      
    • Prepare and maintain BI reporting and analysis documentations.         
    • Generate BI reports, dashboards and data models with the help of BI tools and MS-Office products.
    • Maintaining data analytics platforms         
    • Presenting information through reports and visualization
    • Coordinate with Business Managers to translate business requirements into coherent Business Intelligence (BI) reports. 
    • Collaborate with business users and clients if required 
    • Work with various business teams (and clients if required) to improve BI reporting and analytics. 
    • Interface strongly with all stakeholders within the SDLC process

    Management (will be required to build and manage BI team within 12-18 months of appointment):

    • In conjunction with HR, recruit, hire, onboard and ensure continuous development of the team         
    • Define roles and responsibilities within the team ensuring that objectives are understood and accomplished          
    • Delegation of tasks and projects to team members           
    • Facilitation of team meetings with set agenda points         
    • Regular one on one meetings with team members    
    • Coach and mentor team members in order to reach team and organizational objectives   
    • Meetings are minuted and uploaded onto central access point
    • Conduct performance reviews with team members 
    • Ensure that performance measures are defined in line with organizational objectives and any performance issues are addressed, and measures are put into place to improve performance    Conduct, manage and monitor any disciplinary processes within team, in conjunction with HR
