Business Performance Specialist at Robert Walters

• Provide direction for continuous improvement efforts by managing the identification of opportunities, cost reduction, improvements and systems enhancement in conjunction with the CFO.
• Keep abreast of trends, legislation and best practices within the financial management field in order to optimize service offering and delivery.
• Collaborate with senior management and CFO to formulate short and long-term strategic financial objectives and operating strategies for the business, in line with the overall business strategy of the BU, as well as the overall financial strategy of the Group.
• Evaluate and advise on the financial impact and requirements of long-range planning, introduction of new products/business and regulatory environment to support the realisation of the business strategy.
• Provide recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities, in conjunction with the CFO.
• Establish and comply with finance governance principles and structures within the BU in line with finance best practice (GAAP, IFRS etc.).
• Assist in managing and minimizing the BU's financial risk exposure by developing and maintaining systems of internal controls, liaising with Risk Management functions as appropriate.
• Conduct financial and business analysis - interpreting gaps, impacts, workflow requirements and process improvement opportunities
• Review current cost structures and identify opportunities for improved utilization of assets including human capital.
• Assist with preparation of quarterly CFO/CEO report.
• Analyse Health CoE consolidated and underlying financial performance.
• Contribute to sustaining a competitive edge through external networking and benchmarking and representation on related forums.
• Engage with key internal and external stakeholders to identify changing client needs and make recommendations to align service offering with client needs.

Requirements:

• Must be a registered chartered accountant with South African Institute of Chartered Accountant (CA)(SA).
• 1 - 2 years' experience in a health or financial services environment is required.
• Must have strong report writing skills, i.e. interpreting numbers and writing the content linked to the numbers.
• Must have knowledge of Generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and risk management principles.
• Knowledge of the health, financial services, and insurance industry and applicable regulatory requirements and legislations.
• Must be willing to relocate to Cape Town or travel from the Johannesburg offices to Cape Town from time to time.
