    Director, Product Development, MNO Solutions

    Overview

    • The Mobile Network Operator space represent a strategically important and commercially significant opportunity for Mastercard globally, and particularly in the Middle East and Africa region. The Global MNO Products and Solutions team is responsible for making great products, solutions and propositions for MNOs that delight the user and allow the MNO, mastercard and our partners, to achieve our goals of digitization, diversification and financial inclusion.
    • This role is responsible for designing, developing and bringing to market, great products and solutions that meet mastercard strategy and the needs in the MNO vertical, including MNO Customers, industry partners and end-users. This role works together with partners in mastercard sales and account management teams, and with/close to the customers.
    • This role takes a holistic approach to product and is ultimately responsible for creating the ‘right solution’; using the entire range of company products and services (Digital Solutions and beyond including Core, C&I, Data etc.) to construct the proposition that best meets the needs of the Mobile Network Operator vertical.
    • The right candidate must have a comprehensive understanding of the MNO, Mobile Money and payments industries, a deep and broad knowledge of MasterCard’s assets and capabilities, and a strategic and problem-solving mindset. He/she must be a strong communicator at an executive and senior management level, as well as have an equally sharp ability to listen, understand and interpret complex customer needs and market dynamics.
    • This role will be part of the Global Digital Solutions unit, within the Products & Innovation group.
    • This role will report to the Vice President, MNO Products & Solutions.


    Role & Responsibilities

    • Drives development of new products in anticipation of or response to customer needs, market trends, and competitive opportunities, including writing product requirement, designing consumer journeys,
    • Generates and evaluates ideas to enhance MasterCard’s suite of product offerings and create a competitive advantage
    • Partners with global and/or regional teams to identify opportunities for products and new services, inform internal stakeholders on new features of product offerings and improve the existing development process where possible
    • Initiates and directs qualitative and quantitative market research to validate trends and competitive opportunities for developing new products
    • Validates technical delivery and ensures that output complies with the product requirements and is fit-for-purpose
    • Integrates new requirements into existing product and service solutions leveraging project management skills and product development expertise
    • Ensure compliance with PME
    • Develops and presents business cases for new business and product opportunities
    • Provides input and recommendations for pricing and product positioning in the market

    Responsiblities:

    • Generates new and innovative product solutions that support corporate or product/segment strategy
    • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to accomplish product development directives and initiatives
    • Defines business and functional specifications and requirements for new products and services
    • Directs qualitative and quantitative market research to validate trends and competitive opportunities for specific new product development efforts

    All About You

    • Have experience in delivering project and solutions in the mobile money / payments space
    • Have relevant experience in, and well-rounded understanding of, products and/or sales for addressing the needs of un-served, under-served and banked segments
    • Must be a design thinking and agile development practitioner
    • Have strong experience in delivering digital payment products at scale
    • Must possess strong track record in working closely with external customers in a pre-sales / consultative sales context
    • Broad knowledge of payments / mastercard product and services; familiarity with MasterCard’s digital payments solutions is a strong plus
    • Must be self-sufficient and able to make the most of opportunities and maintain self-discipline despite setbacks
    • Must have the ability to think holistically and long-term, and propose detailed products and initiatives achieve the long-term vision
