    Engineering Manager

    A vacancy exists for the position of ENGINEERING MANAGER, GMR2.1 within the company based in Roodepoort reporting to the Plant Head. The successful applicant will be required to effectively manage the engineering staff in attending to all maintenance needs on the plant and to install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair mechanical elements of equipment to minimise machinery and facility downtime.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering.
    • Master’s degree in engineering management or business administration preferred,
    • 6+ years of engineering experience, ideally in a management role.
    • Advanced GWP/GMP knowledge
    • 8-10 years’ experience in a pharmaceutical or cosmetic environment
    • Good mechanical and PLC knowledge

    SCOPE OF ACTIVITIES:

    • Effectively manage the team of Fitters / Electricians on the site
    • To ensure maintenance team attends to all breakdowns in the agreed upon timeframe
    • Cost effective procurement of part and services – as per budget and approval process
    • Plan details of working procedure by determining replacement needs or new material required and develop a logical approach to correct the problem
    • Ensure preventative and predictive maintenance on the facility machinery
    • Troubleshoot and repair facility machinery
    • To ensure all plant equipment and machinery in all departments work efficiently with maximum up time
    • Write and maintain standard operating procedures
    • Carry-out period inspections of equipment to detect defects timeously
    • Complete daily maintenance and repair logs
    • Maintain and secure work tools
    • Ensure compliance to GMP, GWP, GLP requirements and procedures
    • To facilitate an efficient change over from old equipment to more technologically advanced equipment
    • Report on plant problems and performance to Area Manager and Maintenance Engineer

    EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE

    • Good mechanical experience and capabilities
    • Computer literacy – MS Office / SAP/BMS systems

    • Strong managerial skill (critical requirement)
    • Project planning skills
    • Strong analytical, organisational and planning skills
    • Ability to coach and mentor at both individual and team level
