    Finance Manager

    Objectives

    • To manage and direct the Finance department in accordance with the business objectives;
    • To ensure the implementation and application of corporate HSE, QA and Operational Security policies and procedures in relation to the activities of the Finance department;
    • To ensure that the Finance department operates in a compliant manner within all relevant legal, regulatory and internal corporate policy and procedural requirements;
    • To ensure the development of personnel in support of the objectives of the Finance department;
    • To establish an operational structure in the Finance department to ensure satisfactory team-working to support
    • Effective delivery of service
    • Achievement of project profitability
    • Company transformation in respect of Black Economic Empowerment;
    • To liaise with relevant Management to obtain necessary support to achieve the Finance department objectives.

    Responsibilities

    • To manage and direct the Finance department in accordance with the business objectives;
    • To Deliver all Local Statutory filings, including Statutory accounts and tax filings.
    • To Deliver monthly management accounts for both the local business and the group with reporting to USand local GAAP.
    • To Deliver the annual audit sign off through working with the businesses auditors.
    • To oversee the maintaining of all aspects of the Oracle system.
    • To function as part of the overall Jacobs Financial team and interface with overseas counterparts
    • To ensure the implementation and application of corporate HSE, QA and Operational Security policies and procedures in relation to the activities of the Finance department;
    • To ensure that the Finance department operates in a compliant manner within all relevant legal, regulatory and internal corporate policy and procedural requirements;
    • To ensure the development of personnel in support of the objectives of the Finance department;
    • To establish an operational structure in the Finance department to ensure satisfactory team-working to support

    • To liaise with relevant Management to obtain necessary support to achieve the Finance department objectives.
    • Ensure provision of management information to support, control and measure the business performance;
    • Ensure that appropriate Accounting, Tax, and Treasury systems and procedures are in place to provide effective control and reporting on financial position;
    • Implement strategies for the continued development of the company as a responsible Black Economic Empowered (BEE) company in response to the relevant and current South African legislation;
    • Ensure that the Finance department structure and resource base is maintained and developed in respect of employment equity, numbers and competencies to enable the business and project commitments to be met;
    • Ensure that Jacob’s Core Values are communicated to and understood by the Finance department;
    • Communicate Business objectives and targets to the Finance department. Motivate the Finance department staff to achieve agreed key objectives and profit targets through the joint development of action plans and by obtaining their personal commitment to them;
    • Ensure that the Finance department establish and agree improvement plans for their areas of responsibility and review progress on a quarterly basis. These plans shall address, as a minimum

    • Participate in the preparation of the Annual Budget Plan and subsequently monitor performance and delivery against the Plan;
    • Participate in the preparation of revised forecasts and subsequently monitor performance and delivery against this plan;
    • Preparation of monthly management accounts with variance analysis commentary against plan;
    • Preparation of monthly reports for management;
    • Perform monthly reconcilliations of all Balance Sheet items;
    • Engage with Project managers ensuring that project information is accurately and correctly recorded in the ERP system ensuring accurate and appropriate revenue recognition;
    • Deal with external auditors for the annual audit;
    • Engage with the South African Reserve Bank re cross border transactions;
    • Prepare annual tax filings as well as provisional tax filings;
    • General financial support for the office coupled with adhoc tasks;
    • Engage with the UK office re finance matters;
    • Good understanding of Fixed price projects and the accounting thereof
    • Releasing bank payments;
    • Ensuring and maintaining good internal controls;
    • Participate as a member of the Management team;
    • Ensure that the management team is made aware of important matters concerning the Finance department by the issue of a monthly report and the provision of other written communications as and when necessary;
    • Maintain good employee relations and projection of the Company’s image to Clients, public, and other third parties;lang
    • Maintain all necessary contact with professional bodies;
    • Provide positive and demonstrated leadership on HSSE & QA issues within your area of operation.
    • Read, understand and implement the HSSE & QA policies, procedures and Beyond Zero programme.
    • Promote an enthusiastic HSSE & QA culture that delivers positive commitment to and engages all employees in continuous improvement in business performance.
    • Monitor personnel under your area of control comply with their individual responsibilities to HSSE & QA matters.
    • Demonstrate on-going commitment to all relevant QA requirements as published to the organisations Integrated Quality Management System.
    • Respond and commit to partaking in audits, and responding with relevant corrective action.
    • Promote within your area of operation a culture of people development, achievement, and performance
    • Actively role model and promote the Jacobs values and Code of Business Conduct and Anti Bribery and Corruption policy.

    • Relevant B. Degree (Accounting/Financial Management)
    • Completed articles
    • 3 to 5 Years in accounting
    • Knowledge/experience in project accounting
    • Computerised financial reporting (currently Accpac to move to Oracle)
    • Knowledge, skills and experience
    • Set Direction - Think Strategically, Plan and Lead Change
    • Prior experience of Oracle preferable
    • Strong excel skills
