General Manager: Technical and Customer Service at Sappi

The Role

• Sappi Ltd Dissolving Pulp Division requires a General Manager Technical and Customer Service to provide technical application support, process and product development as well as lead a group of highly skilled scientist in a fast pace and interdisciplinary environment, having to manage a broad range of responsibilities.

This role reports in to the Executive VP Dissolving Pulp.

The main responsibilities of the job are:

• Be a key member of Dissolving Pulp Lead Team
• Provide global technical application support to dissolving pulp customers
• Work with mill operations to improve on dissolving pulp quality and performance in customer processes
• Lead a group of highly skilled scientists
• Drive the technological strategy of the dissolving pulp division 

The ideal candidates should have:

• A four (4) year Bachelor degree in Chemistry plus 5 (five) years technical application support preferably within dissolving pulp, fibre and or non woven industries.
• A Post graduate qualification in Chemistry would be advantageous
• A Post graduate qualification in management would be advantageous
• At least ten (10) years with a proven record in the ability to lead, motivate others, build effective teams and develop direct reports
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Willingness to travel globally extensively 
• Fluency in English
