    Greenpeace International: UX/UI Designer

    Description

Greenpeace International Global IT unit is seeking a talented User Experience / User Interface Designer to join our  growing international web development team. The Global IT unit provides Global IT services to Greenpeace National & Regional Organisations (NRO's) across Europe, the Americas, Asia & the Pacific and Africa.

This is a remote full-time, project position offered for 1 year . We are seeking candidates already based in Greece, South-Africa, Hungary or Lebanon  or Eastern Europe (or TBD) to work for an international team & project.

Planet 4 was born out of a vision of worldwide open collaboration, both inside and outside of the organisation. The goal was and is to create a global engagement tool that was shaped by all. From the outset, we were Open; we shared, invited and accepted users’ contributions and ideas. Now two and a half years later, Planet 4 has 45 Greenpeace websites and makes up 83% of all of Greenpeace's global web presence.

We are now moving into version two of the product. This version is driven by an organisational commitment to engagement and reaching new audiences. The product itself is being shaped by the regional offices, the supporters, the audience and the Open Source community. As part of our commitment to total transparency, we regularly publish stories and process examples on Medium.

As a User Experience / User Interface Designer, you will work on new features, iterate on existing ones, and help shape the tools that will change the future of digital campaigning at Greenpeace. You will need to be an expert at creative thinking, juggling priorities and working to tight deadlines. You'll be designing for a truly global product used across the world in different languages by different Greenpeace national & regional offices that serves global audiences.

Your main responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

    • Define user stories and user flows to represent user experience design ideas.
    • Create wireframes, prototypes and high-fidelity mockups to demonstrate product design ideas.
    • Iterate on design and prototypes based on the Greenpeace community feedback, end-users feedback, and data analysis.
    • Follow and add to the P4 Design System.

    Requirements

    What we are looking for:

    • Bachelors or Masters degree in design (e.g., graphic, product, interaction, visual communications), human-computer interaction, software engineering, or equivalent practical experience is required
    • 3-5 years of experience as UX / UI designer, showing a strong knowledge of web responsive design for desktop and mobile, producing UX deliverables: personas, user flows, wireframes, user stories, etc.
    • Highly proficient in the industry standard design software, including Sketch/Figma/, Invision and other prototyping software.
    • A creative mind able to strategise and execute ideas with the other designers and frontend developers in the team.
    • Ability to work closely with engineers and the development team to bring your designs to life digitally.
    • Drive the design direction across the tasks you're allocated. Have the ability to produce polished work from inception through to completion.
    • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to design user-centered solutions, understand what is possible, what is not and when to push the boundaries.
    • Excellent communication skills: must be fluent in English (both verbal and written), an additional language is an advantage. Not afraid to bring ideas to improve the design process.
    • Work hard, be passionate about what you do and have fun while you're doing it.

    Compensation benefits

    What we offer:

    • Being part of a stimulating, challenging international organisation committed to protect the planet
    • Being a member of a fun and dedicated IT team, all striving to reach the same goals and supporting each other along the way
    • An annual salary in line with an NGO
