    Head of Enterprise Agile - The Digital Lab

    Key Purpose

    • The Head of Enterprise Agile is responsible for envisioning, developing and leading Discovery’s enterprise-wide journey to adopt New Ways of Working (NWoW, including Lean, Agile, Design Thinking, DevOps, etc), in support of Discovery’s digital strategy and to create a competitive edge for the business.
    • The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, practical and passionate about the benefits of NWoW; with extensive experience in Agile coaching, a track record of supporting organisations successfully adopt NWoW at scale, a deep understanding of leading frameworks and approaches; and able to hit the ground running to help the organisation leverage NWoW as strategic assets of culture change and business value generation.


    Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to

    • Curating an enterprise-wide vision, strategy and roadmap for NWoW transformation and leading the delivery of the roadmap.
    • Championing the vision and roadmap across the business by gaining buy-in from stakeholders at all levels, based on a clear understanding of the outcomes they are trying to achieve.
    • Agreeing value to be delivered by the roadmap and measuring delivered value; monitoring, optimising and reporting key value outcomes.
    • Performing the role of an Enterprise NWoW Coach, building relationships with stakeholders across Discovery and helping them understand new ways of working and organising themselves.
    • Leading the design and execution of NWoW diagnostic assessments to help identify and document potential areas of improvement and risk mitigation approaches.
    • Establishing a centre of excellence to provide leadership and disseminate knowledge of NWoW across Discovery.
    • Helping Agile Coaches and teams overcome challenges when collaborating with other, less agile teams.
    • Assisting the business in designing the organisational structure changes required to support the evolution of high performance teams, as well as designing physical workspaces to encourage effective collaboration.
    • Leading the development of an NWoW community of practice and playbook that provides standards to guide NWoW practice across the organisation.
    • Scanning the market for new approaches, frameworks and technologies to support the delivery of the roadmap and the evolution of the vision.
    • Leading, mentoring and coaching individuals and teams, who may or may not be direct reports.

    Personal Attributes And Skills

    • Deep understanding of NWoW concepts, frameworks and methodologies (including SAFe, DAD, Scrum, Kanban, Design Thinking, Lean Startup, DevOps and others), and their application at an enterprise scale.
    • Extensive experience in Agile Coaching, including facilitation, mentoring, training and coaching of teams in many types of situations, from simple to complex.
    • Solid knowledge of DevOps and Continuous Delivery concepts and their implementation within teams.
    • Experience in developing and delivering organisational change management programmes.
    • Excellent analytical, strategic, conceptual thinking and problem solving skills.
    • Ability to effectively lead people, process and technology change in a dynamic and complex operating environment.
    • Strong influence and negotiation skills.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Experience in analysing and interpreting data, presenting that data and executing necessary improvements, and monitoring and evaluating KPIs.
    • Project management and a proven track record of executing strategies to solve business challenges.

    Education And Experience

    • 10+ years of related professional experience.
    • Relevant certifications in NWoW methodologies (Lean, Agile, Design Thinking, DevOps, etc) and Agile Coaching advantageous.
    • Education in Marketing, Business Administration, Engineering and/or Information Technology advantageous.
    • A track record of outstanding academic qualifications and professional performance.
