    HR Manager

    To lead the company’s HR Department and comply with all HR needs including: culture, effective behaviours and performance, Training & Development, Recruitment, Organisational Effectiveness- Driving standardisation, fairness & transparency across the group of companies.

     

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Culture, effective behaviours and performance:

    • Lead HR team and payroll
    • Further define the company's culture & acceptable behaviours - ‘Formula for Success’
    • Ensure message of respect, fairness & commitment is included in all materials - training, induction, performance metrics etc.
    • Create Performance Management system based on each department’s KPIs, and work with HODs to facilitate performance discussions 1/4ly
    • Conduct annual People Planning Review and Individual Development discussions with HI-Po’s to develop succession
    • Engagement - Internal communications, create team building opportunities, conduct employee satisfaction surveys & address outcomes, employee platform
    • Diagnose issues that require HR input and generate a strategic HR plan addressing business priorities

    Training & Development:

    • Conduct training needs analysis for each job. Create a training map that includes Induction and clear path to competence
    • Create training materials to address needs & competencies across all jobs
    • Create on-boarding/Induction process and implement
    • Use Learning Management system e.g. Moodle (open source learning platform) to deploy training materials via mobile
    • Facilitation of training as required, e.g. Heartstyles/Leadership as well as coaching of senior Hi- Potential individuals (part of the succession plan)

    Recruitment:

    • Hire for culture fit - design recruitment tools that measure culture fit, competencies & potential stretch.
    • Create employer branding across various recruitment sites & place ads as required (LinkedIn, Careers24 etc.) that attract best talent
    • Handle whole recruitment process from assessing need for position - exit interviews
    • Liaise with universities for interns

    Organisational Effectiveness:

    • Driving standardisation, fairness & transparency
    • Write Job descriptions for each job role, with specific KPIs to be achieved in that role
    • Write a Disciplinary Code /Code of Conduct & ensure its consistent use throughout the organisation
    • Write policies for, amongst others:
      • Grievances
      • Leave, including study leave
      • Internet & Phone policy
      • Uniform & dress code
    • Analyse current Compensation & Benefits offering & structure into bands
    • Payroll administration & overall employee records to include all training, disciplinary records & performance metrics
    • Occupational Health & Safety - ensure compliance across all business units, committees etc.
    • Employment Equity compliance
    • WSP and ATP - maximise rebates across all SETAs
    • HR Budget
    • Keep up to date with any new legislation and advise of possible impact on business units
    • HR Reporting - absenteeism, turnover, training stats etc.

    Qualifications, Skills and Requirements:

    • BA / BCom degree in HR Management
    • Honours Degree is highly preferred
    • 5 years proven work experience as an HR Manager
    • Good understanding of legislative requirements e.g. EEA, BCEA
    • Strong IR & Employee Relations experience, strong dealings with CCMA cases and IR issues
    • Strong Training / Learning & Development Management experience
    • Microsoft Excel experience is essential
    • Generalist experience
    • Excellent communicator to all levels of management in the company
    • Must be well-organised and have excellent time-management skills
