    Laboratory Technician TE.10

    Duties:

    • The successful candidate is expected to work within the Geosciences lab management team, leading the grinding, mounting and polishing of thin sections and polished blocks in the School’s Sample Preparation Laboratory, as well as facilitation of, and student training, in the crushing, milling and mineral separation facilities in the School. The candidate will also be responsible for Occupational Health and Safety management of these laboratories.

    Requirements:

    • Experience in producing high-quality thin sections and polished blocks for research and teaching purposes
    • Experience in crushing, milling and mineral separation techniques
    • Evidence of laboratory management and student training skills
    • Good oral and written communication skills
    • A matric certificate
