    Manager Project Level 1

    Job Summary

    • To provide project management services and to develop, maintain and enhance operational business relationships.

    Job Description

    • Project Management: Monitors the progression of a project at every stage and ensure that the objectives of a project are met 

    Administration 

    • Manage the project schedule on MS Online and Absa Project Management Tools 
    • Update project status, with milestone updates, flight plan updates, risks, and issues
    • Update resourcing plans 
    • Update financials to align to project progress, business case and change requests 
    • Ensure PDLC (Product Development Life Cycle) artefacts are completed by project resources per phase 
    • Manage change requests on the project ensuring that the impact of the change is reflected on the schedule, resourcing plan and risk and issue log (if required) 
    • Consolidate all content for all governance and project forums 
    • Ensure reporting for the portfolio manager and change governance capability is completed, adhering to the quality and timelines set out 
    • Creating, maintaining, and adhering to communications plans and schedules set out by the project, portfolio, or group change
    • Stakeholder Engagement and Communication 
    • Timeous communication to key stakeholders regarding the status of the project
    • Work with the project sponsor, team, and subject matter experts to develop an appropriate project delivery strategy
    • Ensure that stakeholders are identified and engaged as per the stakeholder management plan

    Project Execution 

    • Implement the delivery strategy in a way that maximizes the business value of the project
    • Have daily progress meetings with project team leads on tracking against the schedule, identifying and managing risks and issues 
    • Integrate plans across the SME’s, product owners, technical teams and business analysis and design teams 
    • Have weekly sponsor sessions to review the progress, risks, and issues (related to scope, schedule, costs, quality, and resources) 
    • With regards to risks, issues and decisions required, collate all applicable data to ensure the appropriate decisions and recommendations are listed for a project

    Financial Management 

    • Ensure that the non-financial and financial benefits are reviewed regularly by the sponsor, business managers and product managers. Highlight any project execution issues or risks that could impact the benefits 
    • Ensure funding requests are submitted timeously to the change forum 
    • Manage the project budget (forecasts and actuals) and highlight any risks or changes 

    Quality Assurance

    • Maintain a desired level of quality in a service or product, especially by means of attention to every stage of the process of delivery or production

    Experience Required 

    • 5 to 8 years working as a Project Manager
    • 2 years working in an Agile/Scrum environment
    • 3 years proven experience in managing digital and technology projects

    Qualifications 

    • A bachelor's degree in organisational management, engineering, finance, information technology or project management
    • PMI Project Management Professional or Prince 2 Foundation
    • Agile Project Management
    • PMI Risk Management Professional (Optional - will be advantageous)
    • Agile Scrum Master (Optional - will be advantageous)

    Skills Required:  

    • Timeliness - Make time to plan thoroughly and prioritize diligently.
    • Communication - Having finely tuned communication skills using multiple methods (e.g., verbal, written, and nonverbal). Communicating predictably and consistently. Making communications concise, clear, complete, simple, relevant, and tailored. 
    • Relationship skills – building extensive networks of people throughout the project 
    • Knowledge Gathering - Being able to sift through massive amounts of information to obtain the most important information.
    • Strategic - Having a holistic and systemic view of the project, taking into account internal and external factors equally
    • Critical Thinking - apply critical thinking (e.g., application of analytical methods to reach decisions) 
    • Leadership - Being able to build effective teams, be service-oriented, and have fun and share humor effectively with team members.

    Education

    • Bachelor`s Degrees and Advanced Diplomas: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
