    Legal counsel, South Africa/SADC

    Key Responsibilities

    As a Legal Counsel in our EMEA legal team, you will be a trusted partner to our lines of business, while identifying and mitigating legal and commercial risks. Your breadth of experience and business acumen, and your focus on solutions and results in often complex scenarios will add real competitive value in to Dell Technologies’ operations in the region. Your compliance awareness and sound risk management will ensure that the reputation for integrity that is at the heart of Dell’s culture is promoted and protected.

    Your primary geographic focus will be on South Africa and SADC. Key responsibilities will include:

    • Draft, review and negotiate legal documents (including RFP responses, a wide range of contracts, regulatory and compliance declarations, contentious correspondence, etc.)
    • Provide clear, user-friendly advice to all operational functions as needed – including employment, data protection, competition and other areas, some of which may be relatively new to you initially, as learning is a constant in the life of a Dell lawyer.
    • Promote compliance throughout the organization, with in-context advice and ad hoc training sessions.
    • Work independently with little day-to-day supervision for most assignments (although a strong and willing network of support and experience is always available among other legal colleagues).
    • Nurture a close, trusted relationship with local management – play a proactive part in shaping strategy that puts Dell’s values into practice.


    Essential Requirements

    • Law degree (Master’s) and/or professional legal qualification obtained in South Africa or other relevant jurisdiction such as the UK.
    • Minimum 7 years of post-qualification professional experience.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Both a team player and a strong self-starter.


    Desirable Requirements

    • Tech industry experience
    • Experience in a multinational corporate environment
