    Shared Services Center Manager

    Job description

    Job Purpose

    Responsible for the effective leadership and management of the SSC, including the management of the team to deliver the core finance transactions, revenue, project management, financial reporting and payroll functions for multiple business units across the Group.

    Education

    • B.Com Honours (CTA) with Articles
    • Registration as a Chartered Accountant an advantage.

    Experience:

    • At least 10 years experience in a similar general financial manag
    • ement position.
    • Experience in the set-up and management of a Shared Services Centre environment
    • Experience in a hospitality/gaming environment is an advantage.

    Skills and Knowledge

    • Knowledge of statutory legal and tax requirements
    • Strong technical accounting knowledge including IFRS developments
    • Strong knowledge of accounting systems and processes
    • Knowledge of payroll and PAYE taxation
    • Team Planning

    • Keep abreast of new developments in the financial and tax fields
    • Ability to implement improved processes

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Delivered Financial Shared Services Centre Plan & Results – 25%
    • Understand the Group Financial strategy and budgets and align SSC plans accordingly
    • Develop strategic objectives for the SSC’s deliverables and implement
    • Facilitate the management and achievement of financial transactional, revenue, statutory reporting and payroll deliverables and processes
    • Monitor compliance by the various teams in the SSC to SLAs as agreed with the units serviced by the SSC.
    • Direct financial analyses and benchmark with leading financial trends and practice
    • Identify and investigate new financial opportunities for the SSC
    • Direct risk analyses i.t.o impact on short term profit margins vs. long term sustainability
    • Compile a risk register for the SSC according to group and unit standards
    • Review financial risks (on Risk Register) quarterly and address mitigating and aggravating circumstances.
    • Communicate with all relevant stakeholders internally at a unit, Group level and externally
    • Manage and allocate people and operational resources for the SSC
    • Align strategies with BBBEE transformational strategies which contribute towards targets being achieved for the SSC
    • Manage any plans to extend the range and scope of services offered by the SSC.
    • Manage the process for developing KPIs for each team and role in the SSC and ensure they are measured, reported and acted upon.
    • Understand the Group Financial strategy and budgets and align SSC plans accordingly

    Financial Governance-20%

    • Oversee financial standards and processes for the various functions within the SSC and continuously implement process improvements to increase efficiencies.
    • Develop, align and update practices with new legislative and tax regulations
    • Implement sufficient control measures (including systems and processes) & checks within each function to mitigate any financial risk to the business.
    • Monitor compliance to financial procedures, costs, controls and productivities
    • Ensure relevant statutory returns are completed
    • Communicate standards and regulations with team to ensure compliance is achieved
    • Review and update of SOPs to align with process improvements.

    SSC Financial Management & Reporting – 10%

    • Oversee the recording of financial transactions and reporting for the SSC to ensure the financial position is accurate, up-to-date and complete.
    • Review monthly management accounts
    • Investigate unusual variances relative to budget and previous year
    • Direct the analysis of business results and identify relative trends to ensure realistic forecasts for the SSC
    • Find solutions to resolve anomalies and follow-up to ensure execution or change in procedure
    • Oversee the completion of monthly and quarterly forecasts as well as
    • annual budgets, forecasts & controls for the SSC
    • Motivate and manage capex requirements for the SSC.
    • Manage procurement processes within the SSC and relationships to ensure monitoring and tracking of price movements to minimize input cost fluctuations.
    • Manager the co-ordination of year end activities and reporting
    • Manage the co-ordination of internal and external financial audits
    • Manage the completion of annual financial statements
    • Completion of financial reporting on projects and initiatives
    • Manage the compilation of tax packs
    • Manage the compilation of Annual board packs
    • Interpret results and provide value-adding recommendations to optimise financial performance (with regards product, process and practices).
    • Compile and provide reports in line with Gaming Board and management requirements that assists stakeholders in making relevant decisions

    People Leadership – 20%

    • Lead and motivate SSC employees and promote positive working relationships, direction and support
    • Lead and oversee SSC communication ensuring employee and management interaction
    • Measure and develop strategies to enhance employee engagement
    • Identify and manage training, coaching and development requirements in line with strategic plans, e.g. skills shortages, succession plans, talent management
    • Ensure competent levels of staff meet operational level requirements (right fit for the job)
    • Source and Select talent as per EE plan to build the future SSC talent pipeline
    • Performance Manage and coach reporting managers to ensure KPA’s are achieved
    • Manage employee relations within the SSC
    • Drive a high performance culture within the SSC to ensure that all SLAs can be met.
    • Ensure there is an established on-boarding process for new staff that join the SSC.

    Stakeholder relationship management-15%

    • Act as the SME on Financial, statutory, legislation and tax requirements for the SSC.
    • Communicate actively with Business Operations, HR and Finance to review cross-unit impacts and reconcile data
    • Communicate with Group Finance and report on revenue and financial position as required
    • Partner with Business Partners and suppliers to deliver efficient procurement standards
    • Negotiate and reach agreements with service providers and business partners
    • Partner with Business Managers and financial managers to ensure management are kept updated on latest developments; risks identified and recommendations
    • Provides support and training to SSC teams
    • Manages non-conformance issues
    • Monitor financial performance of various business units and consult with Financial Managers on results and areas of concern
    • Report and consult with top management on risk areas and remedial action to be taken
    • Present results of the SSC to top management

    Client Services Leadership-10%
    Develop and embed a service culture with the SSC through relevant interventions, e.g. training, incentives, touch points
    Direct the delivery of the client experience across the functional areas
    Deals with escalations / complaints
    Build relationships with clients, providers, suppliers, etc.
    Measure client feedback from various feedback channels
