    Manager: Product Owner Digital Banking

    MTN is entering a new phase in its lifecycle where operational and commercial excellence has become critical for success. The urgency for change has become more heightened amidst increased competitive intensity across all markets in which MTN operates.

    The SM, Messaging must therefore ensure the successful delivery in context of:

    Key Deliverables

    The Manager: Product Owner Digital Banking will be accountable to achieve the following objectives:

    • Strategy Development and Implementation
    • Support the creation of sub-divisional strategy in line with overarching divisional goals with emphasis on client experience (internal and external) in the area of digital banking

    Governance

    • Ad-hoc, operational and tactical meetings
    • Set up and participate in operational meetings
    • Provide reporting at process and functional level

    Escalations

    • Provide reporting and insights on escalations that have impacted on critical path of service delivery

    Consumer business operational

    • Support the project management governance components
    • Develop and monitor a log of key risks, issues, and dependencies

    Performance

    • Develop reporting to monitor agreed KPIs and compliance to SLAs

    Reporting

    • Provide input into the monthly reports relating to progress made within the sub-division and in accordance with the measurement metrics set by the organisation

    Operational Delivery

    • Support OPCOs with implementing the BankTech product strategy by providing support as needed.
    • Support the implementation of innovative banking value proposition leveraging MTN’s assets
    • Play a support role in the development of the full set of banking products and/or services.
    • Develop reporting and support that generates revenues on the OpCo
    • Support the OpCo in developing go to market product strategies and driving revenue and usage with regards to value propositions and products
    • Support OpCos in implementing new products and services, resulting in an optimal value proposition
    • Responsible for developing a repository by OpCo of the best practice at the OpCo level.
    • Develop a repository of competitor products and offerings including financial service providers by territory.

    Vision

    • Achievement of 10% of FS revenues
    • Ensure MTN is offering a fully-fledged banking value propositions to its customers
    • Ensure MTN is the largest provider of mobile lending and saving products in it respective markets

    Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Competencies)

    Education

    • Minimum of 3-year tertiary degree / diploma in IT, Business/Systems Analytical, Product Development or related field
    • Postgraduate qualification/ Certification in Business/Systems Analysis or Project & Product Management will be an added advantage

    Experience

    • At least 5 years’ experience in a middle management capacity in defining, developing, integrating and deploying scalable/large scale
    • Financial Services and/or Consumer Finance products in a multi-country environment, in a senior business and technical capacity.
    • At least 2 years’ experience in Product Roadmap strategic and implementation ownership.
    • Experience in managing the technical and business product development lifecycle, and the commercial implementation of new solutions and products within a FinServ/FinTech environment, etc.
    • Prior experience Financial Services preferred, with experience within the telecom industry and with Mobile Money being an added advantage

    • Strong product development knowledge, specifically relating to being innovative and “out of the box” in aligning “fit for purpose” products for the African market.
    • Ability to design, define/specify and deploy Financial Services/Consumer Finance products and monitor, manage and report on the successful take-up, penetration, performance and profitability thereof – in conjunction with other key functional areas of the business, namely: Credit Risk, Finance, Marketing, Portfolio Management and Customer Experience.
