    Materials Requirement Planner

    RCL FOODS is seeking a Materials Requirement Planner to join our Milling Division. The role will be based in Pretoria West and report to the Customer Service Excellence Manager. We are looking for an individual that is self-motivated, works well under pressure and has a high attention to detail.

    RCL FOODS entrusts the Materials Requirement Planner to develop and manage the procurement (call-off) plan for ingredients and packaging materials necessary to meet the national forward production plan, to plan raw material production for Further Processing, as well as plan and create orders for all raw material and imported finished goods to ensure adequate stockholding to meet the sales forecast.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Computer literacy (SAP/syspro, Barnton and MS Office skills prerequisite)
    • Strong Interpersonal Relationship management
    • 3 - 5 years operational experience, preferably within the production planning environment, but will also consider candidates with strong operations processing experience and/or who have worked closely with the supply planning team in other roles
    • Relevant 3 year degree or Supply Chain Diploma (e.g. SAPICS)

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Material Requirements Planning (Meat, Packaging & Ingredients):

    • Develop the Material Requirements Plan in order to ensure that the forward packaging and ingredients requirements for a rolling 12 month forward plan are met.
    • Manage the MRP plan to ensure that the production plan can be met timeously by having sufficient quantities of packaging and ingredients on site in advance to meet the processing schedule

    Milling:

    • Complete a weekly reconciliation of expected stock arrivals to actual arrivals to ensure that all expected stock is accounted for
    • Compare actual usage to expected usage and adjust the forward plan to ensure that stock cover remains appropriate

    Raw and Packaging Material Stock Management:

    • Manage planned stock levels of materials, both on site and at supplier, in line with agreed target levels / days cover requirements.
    • Identify possible stock inaccuracies internally and at suppliers, and work with site teams (stores and MRP coordinator) and supplier to correct and maintain stock accuracy levels.
    • In conjunction with stores, ensure obsolete and quality compromised stocks are written off promptly.
    • Responsible for communicating overstocks or shortages to the business and making recommendations to resolve situations.

    Supplier and Stock Holding Management:

    • Monthly, provide sourcing and the suppliers with a 13-week forecast of requirements based on end item requirements as per the forward production plan.
    • Establish and maintain lead time, safety stocks and lot size requirements for individual packaging and ingredient requirements.

    Sales and Operations Planning / iCSE:

    • Provide input into the Supply Planning Meetings and Supply Chain Review on where the risks are for shortages, excess stocks and potential write-offs are for Packaging and Ingredients.
    • Make recommendations on how these changes be avoided and/or costs prevented.

    Imports Planning and Coordination:

    • Determine requirements for imports of either raw material and/or finished goods to ensure appropriate stock cover based on forecasted requirements
    • Determine the import requirements for packaging and ingredients to ensure appropriate stock cover based on forecasted requirements

    Supply Chain Reporting:

    • Update the scorecards with the relevant KPI's on a weekly/monthly basis and issue.
    • Issue the agreed reports on a week/monthly basis as appropriate.
    • Understand the variances against targets for key KPI's and provide explanations and corrective actions required.
    • Generate the agreed weekly supply planning packs and associated minutes.
