    Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified engineer to join the Enterprise Asset Management team at Regional Airports.

     

    Key Performance Outputs

    The successful candidate reporting to the Senior Manager Site Maintenance and Engineering will be responsible for the following:

    • Maintain airport mechanical infrastructure (Jet Fuel Infrastructure, Pumps, Air-conditioning, lifts, etc.).
    • Plan for and advise on infrastructure maintenance best practice.
    • Formulate maintenance strategies.
    • Report on infrastructure availability.
    • Prepare, manage and report on the infrastructure maintenance budget.
    • Manage the Computerized Maintenance Management Systems information gathered for the infrastructure.
    • Implement and supervise maintenance projects from concept to commissioning.
    • Implement and manage a continuous improvement program on maintenance matters.
    • Supervise maintenance contractors on site.
    • Actively participate in and manage tender process (e.g. compilation of technical specifications for RFP).
    • Ensure compliance to all applicable stator/regulatory requirements and comply to SOPs.
    • Manage stakeholders.
    • Mentor junior engineers

    Technical Skills and Experience

    The challenges posed by this position require the successful candidate to have the following:

    • A relevant bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering coupled with relevant experience in the maintenance of mechanical infrastructure.
    • Registered or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer
    • Knowledge of and experience in tendering procedures.
    • Knowledge of and experience in project management
    • Knowledge and experience in budgeting and budget management.
    • Knowledge of and experience in the use of the NEC family of contracts and contract management.
    • Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
    • At least Code 08 driver’s licence is essential.

     

    Competencies

    The ideal candidate must maintain high level of integrity and have high level of technical expertise in mechanical engineering environment. The candidate must possess excellent interpersonal skills and ability to lead and manage contractors. Planning and organizing skills are essential. The ideal candidate must have problem solving skills with drive for results and strong customer focus. The incumbent will also have to work after hours including weekends when so required. The incumbent must also be able to travel
