    Medical Advisor – Speciality Medicine

    YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Develop and maintain good working relationships with existing and emerging Thought Leaders. Establish ongoing liaison with Thought Leaders, government officials, and healthcare organisations to ensure that significant developments in the field are identified and monitored.
    • Assemble and manage key opinion leader advisory groups for each product.
    • The advisory group’s role will be to review the product and suggest core product attributes; review the choice of comparators for clinical trials; suggest any disease relevant health status questionnaires to incorporate into clinical trials so that good cost data is obtained in local populations to support later cost arguments; discuss where the product fits into the management of patients’ diseases; suggest synergies with other company products; and discuss leading developments in the field.
    • Maintain up to date clinical knowledge in appropriate therapeutic areas, and provide appropriate strategic and operational input into company objectives. Recognised as a company expert in the nominated therapeutic areas and provide input into global product development teams as required and requested.
    • Keep up to date with Local and Global codes, regulations and laws. Review and approve marketing material according to local and international guidelines.
    • Assist where needed in sales representative training in tandem with training managers.
    • Develop and maintain good working relationships with appropriate global and local internal personnel.
    • To supply medical and clinical support to sales and marketing departments, regulatory affairs, pharmacovigilance, market access, and clinical operators. Liaise in all related matters including strategies.
    • Attend relevant conferences and scientific meetings to maintain and develop a network of contacts with specialists and customers within the company’s therapy areas and within the industry and to maintain and improve knowledge in allocated
    • disease areas. Regularly review clinical articles relating to therapeutic area.
    • Influence Head Quarters in gaining approval for phase IV and investigator
    • initiated studies which meet identified local and global needs. Act as a medical
    • resource to the company as a whole and particularly to the clinical research
    • department (protocol and CRF writing, adverse events, discussions with
    • investigators, internal meetings).
    • Represent the company via presentations to groups of experts, societies,
    • regulatory bodies and at international meetings.
    • Provide medical expertise in the review of adverse experiences and discuss
    • patient management issues with investigators as needed.
    • Manage Medical Science liaison/s reporting into the positionAttend appropriate
    • Global and Local Medical/Marketing Meetings.


    WHO YOU ARE

    • The individual must possess a Medical degree. Three years practical experience
    • as a clinician preferred.
    • Must be registered with good standing with the HPCSA
    • Approximately 3 years’ experience working in the corporate pharmaceutical
    • industry, in a Medical Advisor / Medical Science Liaison role preferred.
    • Effective people management skills is essential.
    • Previous people management experience preferred
    • Strong Leadership skills
    • High Degree of initiative and commercial acumen required.
    • Must demonstrate ability to build relationships.
    • Must demonstrate innovation
    • Must be competent with Microsoft office.
    • Good command of the English Language.
    • Must be able to multitask, work under pressure and after hours.
    • Local and International travel a prerequisite
