    Methods Technician

    The main purpose of the job will be to contribute by offering support in introducing new working methods and identifying resource requirements. You will work with continuous improvements by supporting kaizen events, facilitating improvements, and providing support were needed. This position is based at the Durban Plant.

    Reporting: This position will report to the Engineering and Maintenance Manager

    Job Objectives

    • Systematically introducing new working methods together with the Plant Team
    • Support the department on priorities regarding new working methods and proposals that can make a positive contribution to the Plant goals/objectives
    • Identifying and standardising the best practices in the plant that are related to the departmental scope
    • Support or lead in the implementation of improvement proposals, problem solving, kaizen events, etc…
    • Support in identifying direct manning needs using available tools
    • Exchange experiences, both inside and outside (benchmark) the plant by constantly looking for innovative tools & methodologies to improve the current process
    • Proactively apply knowledge of Volvo Production System (VPS), Volvo requirements and other standards to ensure plant deliverables are reached
    • Support in preparation of new product introductions

    Education & Job Experience

    • Must have Matric / Grade 12
    • Must have an Industrial Engineering/Mechanical Engineering Diploma/Degree
    • 1 year similar work experience within an Automotive/Manufacturing Environment
    • Must have Avix system tool analysis or similar experience
    • Must have MS Office intermediate experience
