    Modern Trade Customer Manager

    Key Responsibilities

    • Leading and guiding the East and West Africa business on building sustainable Modern Trade customer strategies to drive future growth
    • Build strong and sustainable customer partnerships throughout the customer’s organization (i.e. at head office level and at country level) aligned to Colgate Palmolive commercial priorities
    • Plan, lead and Negotiate Terms & Conditions with major retailers for the upcoming calendar year ensuring alignment to CP commercial priorities and shopper marketing campaigns, both at head office level and at country level
    • Ensure effective coordination between major Retailers HO and local country level and Local CP sales teams to remove the commercial barriers that may affect the day to day operations and slow down organic growth (e.g. Maintaining Customer Master Data Integrity and Pricing Harmonization)
    • Responsible for developing, negotiating and communicating (both internally and externally) the annual customer promotional grid aligned to CP commercial calendar and consumer marketing plans in order to accelerate growth in country
    • Responsible for driving the 5P strategies (i.e. assortment, promotion, pricing, distribution and visibility) across the key retail customer base
    • Provide strong support and guidance to local CP and Distributor teams managing Modern Trade customers on the key issues and opportunities when dealing with Modern Trade customers
    • Co-ordinate and lead business analytics using both internal and external scanned sales data sources (i.e. Dunnhumby) to provide valuable shopper insights that drives business decisions to enhance future growth

    Required Qualification & Experience

    • Holds a University Bachelor’s degree
    • 5 years plus experience at managing and dealing with major retailer chains across East and West Africa
    • 3 years plus experience in shopper / retail / customer marketing management with clear understanding of the 5P strategy across East and West Africa
    • In depth knowledge and understanding of Modern Trade customer’s value chain and business model across Africa
    • Strong people management skills
    • Strong presentation skills (Google Slides advantageous)
