Murex Engineer at Rand Merchant Bank

To perform the role of a Murex Engineer across the Markets, Banking and Treasury Business Units.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in sizing, setting up, monitoring and maintaining the infrastructure (hardware and software on which the Murex platform is run)
• Ensure quality and stability of the MX.3 platform
• Design and implement tools needed for the operations and management of MX.3 (monitoring, automation, etc.)
• Work in continuous integration model using tools like Jenkins, Ansible and GIT
• Design, build, deliver, review, test and help support the interface and reports
• Design and execute test plans based on the product acceptance criteria and stakeholder needs
• Build an efficient and effective test suite by automating test scenarios following the testing standards
• Analyze results of manual and automated tests by performing root cause analysis of encountered behaviors, following up on identified issues (regressions, bugs, impacts…) with corresponding peers (developers, business analysts) till resolutions, and fixing/adapting tests when relevant
• Develop technical, testing, and agile methodologies expertise through on the job, continuous learning
• Be an advocate of automation, Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery

Qualifications and Experience:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline is required, or equivalent work experience
• Superior organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Keen interest in financial markets. Working knowledge of financial products a plus
• Unix (Solaris, Linux), shell scripting basics, network (e.g. TCP)
• Eager to work with new technologies and models (Agile, DevOps, automation tools)
• Following skills are a plus to have: Citrix, AWS, Jenkins, Oracle
• Knowledge in programming: namely Java, groovy and python
• Knowledge of SQL (select, join, union, group by, etc) and of XML and related technologies (XSLT)
• Experience with test automation frameworks, building and maintaining test plans a plus
• Experience in Murex and/or MX TEST advantageous
