    Occupational Health Doctor

    We provide medical assistance and support to our clients and their members / insured entities on a global basis. This includes direct contact with the members, clients, colleagues, relatives and medical providers to perform an appropriate risk assessment and providing the necessary medical support, including but not limited to appropriate medical advice, referrals, medical monitoring and medical evacuations and repatriations. 

    This vacancy exists within our Occupational Health Platform - MedFit.

    The MedFit Department provides global coordination and medical review of essential health screening and vaccination support services to multinational organisations with expatriate populations (employees and dependents) who are required to travel frequently or are assigned to work in foreign countries and frequently in remote locations.

    ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Responsible for medical due diligence and case direction
    • Work closely with the nursing team to ensure effective and timeous case management.
    • Ensure continuity of service delivery by answering all requests for assistance in a timely and professional manner.
    • To be available for after hours consultation where required in support of all MedFit programs.
    • Actively participate in all appropriate training and identify personal training needs.
    • Provide positive and ongoing feedback to the nursing staff concerning their areas for skills improvement and development and assist with development of training programs.
    • Responsible for mentoring new medical team staff members.
    • Maintain CPD currency.
    • Assist with quality assurance in regard to the medical provision of services.
    • Responsible ensure the appropriate medical outcomes are consistently attained
    • Work with Operations Managers and Medical Directors in assuming responsibility for service recovery and ensuring that a workable service recovery system in place for programs pertaining to relevant MedFit client groups.
    • Assist the Training Team with training of MedFit medical and operational personnel in providing the specific duty of care and MedFit program requirements, and develop operations procedures for this purpose and for providing a standard of references as this relates to operational delivery of MedFit services.
    • Work with the Medical Director to support the Global Assistance Network (GAN) Department in developing the provider network and validating the credentialing of medical providers as related to occupational managed care providers.
    • Liaise directly with key representatives within the client as well as the Intl. SOS sales team in order to ensure appropriate service delivery and assistance with client needs.
    • Review and revise client specific procedures as required for the delivery of these services to ensure a high quality of medical services.
    • Be actively involved in the set up and roll out of MedFit services to clients.
    • Anticipate future medical issues and needs of clients and areas for potential enhancement of MedFit services.
    • Review and revise standard operating procedures and client specific processes as requested.
    • Participate in telephonic updates to clients / weekly tracking sheets and updates as well as formal client meetings.
    • Continually assess and understand the client's needs.
    • Deal positively with complaints, resolving these wherever possible or referring / escalating as per standard operating procedure.

    EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

    • Work experience in an Occupational Health Setting
    • Proficient computer literacy skills
    • Excellent command of English (verbal and written)
    • French or Portuguese language skills highly advantageous

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery
    • Full HPCSA Registration for Independent Practice as General Practitioner or Specialist
    • Qualification in Occupational Health
