    Partnerships Manager - NGO

    The Role

    • This NGO is part of a large ecosystem of health service providers comprised of government and NGO entities as well as community stakeholders not necessarily health-focused but crucial to our success. As a PEPFAR-supported partner,the organisation is mandated to align our services with the goals, objectives, and policies of the South African government, and to collaborate with other stakeholders to maximize the impact of our work. To ensure that they remain a valued and successful partner in the fight against HIV, the Partnerships Department is tasked with establishing and maintaining productive, mutually beneficial relationships with PEPFAR and their supported partners, the South African Department of Health (at provincial, district and sub-district levels) and other NGOs and community stakeholders.
    • This is a newly created role as the organisation is expanding into the North West province. The Partnership Manager will report to the Partnership Director and the National Partnership Manager and will work individually and as part of a multi-disciplinary team with funders, partners, and key stakeholders at both strategic and operational levels. The successful candidate will be responsible for the North West partnership portfolios, leading the provincial and district DoH and other governmental partnerships. You would also be required to liaise with PEPFAR-supported District Support Partners and other PEPFAR partners. One North West Partnership Coordinator will report directly to the successful incumbent.

    Duties and Key Responsibilities:
    Funders

    • Implements of short- and long-range goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures for government relations support function and its Funder programs.
    • Participates in the monitoring and evaluation of partnership program effectiveness and contributes to changes required for improvement.
    • Collaborates with other Funder partners to ensure they remain an effective and valued partner.
    • Maintains effective communications with assigned Funders and Government partners as well as with leadership to provide effective support services.
    • Participates in the development of policies and procedures relative to Funders and government relations.

    Partnership Management

    • Assesses and routinely updates all partners’ goals and objectives
    • Mediates conflicting goals between external actors (government and community partners) and internal actors (staff and leadership).
    • Works with provincial and district South African Government officials as well as Funders and NGO representatives to ensure the organisation excels.
    • Develops recommendations and materials in support of partner relations activities.

    Site Relationship Management

    • Serves as liaison for Taxi Associations and other groups where required
    • Assists Community Liaison department with special sites, example Prisons etc.
    • Performs any other higher-level negotiations that are required
    • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
    • Attends required meetings on behalf of the organization

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Tertiary qualification is advantageous
    • Previous field experience with PEPFAR and/or the South African Department of Health is preferred but similar relationship management experience in any industry in corporate or the NGO sectors accepted
    • Microsoft Office suite
