    Plant Assistant

    Decription

    The operations team is looking for a Plant Assistantfor the Bethlehem area to join their team

    In this role, you will be responsible for the following:

    • Ensure dipping of tanks and record dips/ temperature accurately.
    • Ullage and decant of road and rail tank vehicles
    • Assist with tank / valve preparation for product receipts.
    • To load/ decant bulk trucks.
    • Replenish the bulk additive stock by decanting bulk additive trucks/additive drums.
    • Monitor and report any unsafe conditions and acts to immediate supervisor.
    • Ensure that the premises are kept clean and maintain housekeeping standards.
    • Comply with Depot safety procedures and work instructions.
    • Report all accidents/incidents as per policy, using near miss booklet and Intelex system and implement corrective actions where necessary.
    • Conduct quality testing of product samples from road/rail receipts and any other samples requested by the Supervisor/Manager
    • You will perform any other duties as reasonably requested by the Shift Supervisor /Depot Supervisor/Fuel Controller or Manager
    • You will be responsible for the inspection of equipment, vehicles and structures
    • Ensure the opening and closing of the depot is done according to operations standards
    • Ensure generator and firefighting refueling
    • You will be responsible for draining of storage tanks

    Hseq

    • Good understanding of emergency equipment
    • Assist to ensure HSE requirements are enforced within the depot
    • Take part in depot safety initiatives

    CONTEXT AND ENVIROMENT:

    • Physical work ex. handling of product hoses and firefighting equipment
    • Shift work with overtime required
    • Working at heights required
    • Cold and warm weather conditions are characteristics of the area
    • Contact with hydrocarbon products possible

    Qualification And Experience

    • Qualification: Matric or National Diploma/BTech in Engineering / Logistics
    • 0 - 3 years experience gained in a petrochemical, production, and warehousing or industrial environment
