    Principal Engineering Design Projects

    Job Description

    • As a Principal Engineering Design Projects, you will ensure that engineering designs meet the safety standards and are cost effective, practical and meet the customer’s requirements.

    You will also:

    • Develop disciplines, specific plans and systems to reduce exposure to specific risks and embed critical controls into daily work practices
    • Ensure that engineering design criteria is defined to establish the minimum Group specifications and coordinate the integration of project engineering initiatives within each Project Management Office, and across Project Management Offices where applicable
    • Provide guidance to engineers to ensure the best deliverables

    This role is at our Johannesburg Corporate office at a level band 5 reporting to the Head of SIB Execution

    Qualifications

    • B.Eng. Degree
    • Must be a registered Pr. Eng. (ECSA)
    • GCC qualification (Mines & Works) preferable
    • A project management qualification will be an added advantage

    Experience:

    • 10 years' experience as a Project Engineer or Engineering Manager (Civils, Mechanical, Structural, Electrical and Instrumentation) within underground and opencast mining, and both concentrator, refineries & smelters).
    • 8 years’ experience as an Engineering Manager involved in (underground and opencast mining, for both concentrator, refineries & smelters) would be an advantage
    • Advanced skills in the interpretation of benchmarks, and development of targeted, effective plans to achieve measurable operational improvements
    • Advanced skills in identifying structuring, allocating, and management of work packages across a portfolio of project activities to effectively delegate to team
    • Proficient in applying commercial and business principles in decision-making across the value chain to optimize value and advanced proficient in business case development, quantifying value and addressing stakeholder requirements
