    Process Engineer (Bodyshop)

    Role Summary

    Perform and Implement Body Process Engineering Function for Continuous Improvement in Body Dimensional Capability and Working Timeously With Supply Base And STA For Improved Part Quality.


    Position Details

    • Ensure compliance to the Quality Operating System and coach technicians as required.
    • Confirm proper tools are being utilized to ensure product and process quality.
    • Confirm work areas adhere to 5S standards of workplace organization, and workstations are free of debris and contamination.
    • Ensure EOS standards are adhered to and identify additional opportunities.
    • Coach and support technicians to achieve SQDCPME objectives through standardized work.
    • Coach, teach, and feedback on resolution of abnormalities (ANDON), and confirm closure of concerns.
    • Assist Work Groups as required to maintain production flow consistent with cycle time requirements.
    • Confirm Engineering tasks (Crisis, Predictive and Preventive) are completed, confirm effectiveness, and identify improvement.
    • Adhere to and modify Time & Data Management to promote, support, and coach a continuous improvement mindset and activities in the team.
    • Constructively utilize downtime to continuously improve.
    • Verify and maintain documentation (OJT, Versatility, FMEAs, OIS, WES, and Mandatory Training).
    • Ensure Work Group members are appropriately recognized for the accomplishments.
    • Adhere, Monitor and confirm that manufacturing operating system standards are being applied and adhered to throughout the area.
    • Facilitate Results Process through utilization of standard processes and tools.
    • Drive continuous improvement on systemic abnormalities to prevent reoccurrence.
    • Provide necessary resources to maintain production flow and confirm critical inputs are being performed to the acceptable standard(s).
    • Drive the creation and coordination of work plans (downtime, shutdown, manage the change), and ensure the team is executing. Evaluate the effectiveness of work plans.
    • Plan and implement revisions and improvements to meet the new standards as the manufacturing operating systems mature.
    • Enable a culture of learning through demonstration of effective communication skills.
    • Mentor, nurture, develop teams to own working together, modeling the Ford values and expected behaviors.
    • Create a proactive performance driven culture that listens, reacts and supports (effective communication, education, listening, and trust) to capture the hearts and minds of the people.
    • Proactively recognize the team’s accomplishments and improve morale.
    • Ensure basic administrative activities are completed, as required.
    • Close Customer (Paint/TCF/External Warranty) Concerns by Developing Solutions at Low Risk
    • Ensure Team Versatility to Ensure Concise Decisions are made effectively when required.
    • Achieve score card Objectives and Targets
    • Drive Proactive Quality Improvements
    • Ensure 100% Pp & Ppk results for assemblies and subassemblies
       

    Performance Measures

    • Improve body shop quality using data analysis and preventative planning
    • Develop and implement short, medium- and long-term improvement plans for implementation
    • Take responsibility for investigating and introducing new engineering technologies and strategies.
    • Undertake root cause analysis and ensure Permanent Corrective Actions (PCA’s) are implemented
    • 100% Pp & Ppk results for assemblies and subassemblies
    • Zero Process Related downtime
    • 100% FTT at all customer inspection areas.

    Qualifications

    • National Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering
    • 3 - 5 Years Bodyshop/Process Engineering Experience
    • Minimum of 2-3 years within the Automotive Industry
